Yeah a precursory bit of Google brought up a few horrible hunting incidents but I'm sure the young lady can be her own interwebby detective if she so desires.

Yeah, because when a girl makes a private, personal memorial to her dad and some random stranger finds it, the appropriate thing to do is help the meddling stranger Attention Whore it to the rest of the world.

Like, how many men were killed in a hunting accident around that spot the year he found it? I mean if it's that many, maybe they should be hunting.

How about we leave the creepy internet-knows-all crap to the trolls, attention whores, and child porn addicts of reddit.

Anyway, start with the local fire department.

He sounds quite motivated. Is there a river near by?

I was sitting on a rock on the edge of a cliff off Chuckanut Drive a few years ago, and I looked down and saw there was a small plaque to a girl that had committed suicide by jumping off the cliff....

Kinda ruined the moment.

I'm as curious about stuff as anybody else, but this screams "leave me alone."  If the spot has not been maintained, it's possible the surviving family members have left the area to allow for healing.  And the girl can look the site up years from now.  There are places I drive by now and remember how they looked years ago, and what happened there, so I'm pretty sure this girl will be able find the place years from now without Creeper McCreeper helping.

For what it's worth, he does say that he just wanted to know if she'd like him to keep maintaining it or let it fade into the forest.

If he never revealed the exact location of it via YouTube I'd say that's fair and kind of sweet.

My fantasy has turned to madness
All my goodness has turned to badness
My need to possess you has consumed my soul
My life is trembling, I have no control

I will have you, yes I will have you
I will find a way and I will have you
Like a butterfly, a wild butterfly
I will collect you and capture you

You are an obsession, you're my obsession
Who do you want me to be to make you sleep with me

You are an obsession, you're my obsession
Who do you want me to be to make you sleep with me

So if 124 year old Hitler was hypothetically found like all the EU has banninated the death penalty even for war crimes, so he would spend the rest of his days in a nursing home, at least if he was taken by Germany, UK, France etc.

If 124 year old Hitler was taken by US Im sure he'd get the needle if he lived long enough to make it through trial and appeals.

And there were two photographs, one a school class photo showing what appears to be a preteen girl and the other showing a toddler.  "Both have red hair," Conlin said. "I'm not sure if the pictures are of the same girl at different ages or of two different girls."

I think we should help the cops find Mr. Conlin.

In 2007, a 46 year old hunter named James W. Dawson Jr. was killed after being mistaken as a deer near Dan's Mountain Wildlife Management Area. No information on whether he had kids.

If this guy really wants to find out who it is, he should check the local papers. He could narrow his search down to hunting season. Then look up next of kin to see if any of the dead had a little girl.

2013-03-30 03:29:51 PM
I wouldn't automatically brand the guy as a creeper, but I figure if the girl who created the memorial or some other family member hasn't returned to the site, there's a reason.  Leave it alone.

There is a a name for this - "white knight syndrome". It comes in many flavors, but it sounds like this is what is going on here. Some dude has decided to interject his personal need to be a part of a tragedy for no reason other than that he thinks he can be more helpful than if he just stayed out.

I know who this is! I posted her name, address, school, telephone number and e-mail to a site I found called "fourth channel" or "4-chan" or something. In the "Looking for underaged girls" thread (it seemed to be the most relevant place).

No, no need to thank me. It's what any good person would have done.

I'm laughing so hard I can hardly type, but thanks for the comments, you farkers. I'm Doug Conlin, and like the article says, I only want to know if I should keep maintaining the memorial or let it fade into the forest. It could be that the girl has grown up and couldn't find the place, so I'd be happy to lead her there, (with a chaperone, so you farkers won't be too upset.)

If you want some insight into why I'm a farker, check this video my friends made, on the same day I found and rebuilt the memorial again. (Rolling Rock in hand, fearless about being zapped in the chest. I am one of you!)

Yeah, it is kind of a weird thing. A lot of the time there are people who really believe they are helping in some way, when they should just be content with allowing whoever may be grieving their time alone. Newtown has had its share most recently, Gene Rosen, while having done a good thing, just could not stay away from the media and in the end, was basically trashed for it. Whether he was a "hero" or not, it sure appeared he was looking to extend his fame just a little too much.
