See, this is what we've been talking about.  Simple, common-sense bicycle regulation, that should have been enacted a long time ago.  If it saves even one life it will be worth it.

I

Dimensio: csi_yellowknife: Another MSP person as well as a biker. Every time I'm at a corner, I watch drivers eye me like they're watching their insurance premiums flash before their eyes. I don't blame them, even if I stop for them it doesn't mean anyone else will.

/quick guide: No helmet, over 25, wearing street clothes on cheap-looking bike = They'll stop. Helmet, jeans/T-Shirt = They're going to at least look. Helmet, skinsuit, matching fannypack = not even going to try.

I am over the age of thirty; when cycling, I wear jeans, a t-shirt, a helmet and a black fanny pack. I paid more than $500 for my bicycle. I stop at all stop signs and red lights and at yeild signs when appropriate.

I did recently obtain an air horn, for use should I encounter another driver who chooses to ignore a stop sign. Again.

/My .45 is problably louder, but using that as a warning is probably not a good idea.
//I ignore sop, yeld and one vay signs.

I hate the drivers that approach an intersection and are turning right so of course their full attention is to their left, scoping the oncoming so they might not have to stop, meanwhle I have learned to slow down at intersections because of these jerks, even thou I'm approaching a crosswalk and have the right of way. This is even when I'm on foot asshole bike haters. Have scared many people just by getting close to their car  in the start of the crosswalk so when they finally look right my 6'3 220lb carcass is standing at their passenger window.  Almost always get a scream.

  I think the bark of your .45 would get a more interesting reaction though.

People_are_Idiots: I would have slowed and try to -barely- tap his bike.

He was a prick, but that's not about to make me commit vehicular assault. By the look of the guy, just letting him go about his life was about the most damage I could have done.

OMG can we please do this here?

I <3 the fact that MSP is a biketopia, but jesus, nobody obeys a goddamn stop sign.

I mean yeah, Darwin and all, but the drivers who hit these folks have to live with THAT the rest of their lives...and surviving family/friends...

/just stop for the sign or light, folks
//also didn't actually RTFA yet

And they say that we have too many people in jail on drug offenses. Wait until they have to start putting people in the pokey for not following traffic laws while bicycling.
