Must be the back door given the location.

That's actually pretty cool. It's nice to find things like this that encourage a child's imagination.

Real or not, it's kind of rude to open the door.

Because people in Frisco are stupid and amused by idiotic things?

I love creative stuff like this. On the turnpike to my parent's house, there is one random "cedar" tree that gets decorated with ornaments and tinsel every December. It's not near an exit or rest area, just in the middle of nowhere.

What do the people of a small mountain town in Colorado have to do with a door on a tree in a park in San Francisco?

/yeah, I'm that guy

Be careful, kids - the elves may have a "Stand Your Ground" law!

I love this! We had a smurf box on a post in our town a cpl of yrs ago, (was a give n take box, leave something or find something kinda thing) i used to pass it all the time and check to see what was inside. (i got a little cd/record cleaner brush once from it) Haven't been there in a while, the friend that lived nearby moved. I wonder if the box is still there

There has been one of those along a trail I run for a couple of years. But that trail is littered with gnome homes.

Yes, it's cute.  But it's hardly a mystery.

Actually the doormouse said "tea and bread". The 60s would have been a lot different if Grace Slick had known that.

Somebody did the same to a volunteer tree in a tiny median near my parents' house. Over the summer, public works cut it down. Last December, there was a fake tree in its place, and local news covered it.

Our local ren fair had a vendor that sold gmome doors. My husband and I bought a couple, and later insralled them around the house. Every once and a while, we'll leave a note by the door, or arrange some stuffed animals by it. The theories our kids come up with regarding them are just awesome! Too much fun!
