Don't go to places if you can't deal with the laws there.

Well....look...she was having a meal with a man who was not her husband (you're in the Kingdom, lady, there are rules). And alcohol. She knew the rules; I say let her rot in jail.

/i'm okay with this

Did you see the way that salad was dressed?  It was asking for it.  Totally not her fault.

"And sources said the vengeful wife pressed charges when told her husband was found alone with the teacher."

All he needs to do is beat his wife until she drops the charges to stop the pain. Then everyone who matters can be happy.

Yeah, that biatch should have stayed in the back of the bus like a good nigress (is that even a word?). Them's the rules.

Serves her right. If you go to a country with repressive laws you better not break them, especially in a muslim country!

Remind me of that when the next silly-ass anti-abortion initiative comes up. Or while the Supreme Court deliberates the constitutionality of same-sex marriage. Y'know, religious laws that are being applied to people not of that religion. Especially stupid religious laws.

I bet she will look really sexy in a hajib!

So a guy has a huge fight with his wife, kicks her out of the house, and then invites a single foreign woman over for drinks shortly afterward.

Sounds to me like they were going to fark later, in which case this is good for them because 1-12 months in jail is a damn sight better than execution.

Which tends to get really farked-up when the entire basis of said religion is that its laws should be applied to everyone by force.

so neither the troll headline and trollmitter couldn't have mentioned in the headline that it was in Abu Dhabi?

as the sun farkticle does in the first paragraph:

A BRITISH woman teacher was last night facing jail in Abu Dhabi - for having lunch with a married man.is 'british' a nationality, but some arab country is the same as the other? or is 'United Arab Emirates' all Arabs to the sun? i's confused.

If you're referring to "more money than brains", sure. I can think of places much nicer to visit where you aren't treated like an infidel because you wear the wrong color shoes during a certain lunar phase on a Wednesday at 3pm while walking east-northeast past a newspaper stand that sells "Hot Hijabs Monthly".

Hey Westerners, if you don't want to be arrested for what you consider to be normal behavior, then DON'T GO TO THE MIDDLE EAST!

/simple solution for a stupid problem

If you do the crime, you gotta' be prepared to do the time.......no matter how much you may disagree with the law.

Why would anyone willingly go to these shiathole countries anyway?

When are Muslims going to stop acting like assholes and have a reformation? The region was a lot nicer before the took their religion to such an extreme, they were more liberal in the 19th century FFS! Have they not noticed that the only region more repressive and poor than them are Africans? Have they not noticed that they have gone from one of the most advanced civilizations to the most backwards?

It's really no secret that the Middle East is full of conservative laws, wtf is with people getting all surprised when they're supposed to follow them?  When they come here, they're expected to follow western laws.  What's with the double standard?  Don't farking go there if you don't like the society.

No...but there are only a few "Arab" countries that have these kind of idiot laws. Even Iran allows women to sit down with men under the right conditions and isn't likely to arrest a foreign national for doing so--certainly she wouldn't be facing jail time if she was arrested. A woman being arrested and facing jail for having lunch with a man means by default she was in Saudi, the Emirates or Kuwait. Those are pretty much de facto "Arab" countries. Everywhere else has their own problems.

When in Rome, dipshiats. You can only come to America and piss all over laws, customs, traditions and exhibit horrible manners while expecting to get away with it. Maybe next time she won't order a whore sandwich with sodomite sauce in a land where they don't let that shiat fly.

Your wife's bedroom?

Thanks for the tip! I had only used rhetorical devices in terms of dick size before.

The level of scrutiny is in TFA. A wife complained about her dick husband and the police were obliged to let an expat know she had crossed a line when it comes to meddling with a married man who likely has children.

But nevermind that...Sharia law's stinky! Not like my ass!

Well they are at least actually Arabs since they are from the Arabian Peninsula, unlike when people call North Africans or South Asians or people from the Levant Arabs.

I'm not a Christian. Why should I not work on the Sabbath, kill my children for being disrespectful, not eat shellfish, not plant two crops in the same patch, etc? I have morality, I treat people fairly, I'm a nice guy, so why do I need Christians breathing down my neck?

I think you may have confused the Christian and Judaic laws, particularly the bit about shellfish and crops.
Just a clarification: I agree with you, otherwise.
Not sure about killing my children - why would anyone need a religion to suggest that this isn't a good idea.

With respect to conservative muslim countries - because you're in their country, they have the numbers, and the guns, and the societal norms backing the laws they will use to throw your ass in jail.

In principle, I agree with you. I shouldnt have to follow Muslim laws if I'm not a muslim. In practice, though, it's not people like you and I - people that are nice, believe in live an let live, etc - that make the laws in places like Dubai and the Kingdom.

So we can talk about what it "should be" all we want, but the reality of the situation is if you go over there, you damn well better make sure not to break any of their laws.
