They always do this sort of thing with baby animals. You guys think if I adopt a child who's a different race than me, I'll have to wear makeup around it?

I don't know you, stranger, but you seem OK, so I will pass this on to you:

"WTF, were you raised by a wire monkey?!"

Use it only for good.

long time ago i had a weekend job as a nanny for rhesus babies at a primate research facility. very fun, mostly spent making banana rice milkshakes for the babies, feeding them and holding them. most interesting thing i found was how distinct each ones personality was. they all pretty much looked almost exactly alike, but there was a wide range of personalities. i took care of them from just a few days old to a few months old. They also had a chimp nursery, but i wasnt allowed in there to play with the chimp babies.

Those apes grow amazingly fast.

About seven years ago, we went to DisneyWorld with my then six year old granddaughter.  In the Animal World  park, they had gorillas and in the area, they had a cast of a hand print of a 6 year old gorilla.  It was bigger than my hand and I'm a fairly big guy (6'4", 280 lbs).  My granddaughter was very amazed at that.

Look at the difference in the two babies' eyes....the alert look in the baby gorilla's and the dead, scared look in the monkey's. Then extrapolate that the next time you see a baby that looks kind of like the latter vs. the former, and consider what's going on in that baby's home.

If they raise one gorilla but kill 20 to make the vests...this is a huge net loss.

Equating "races" with species is idiotic.
"Race" is not a scientific, biological term, all humans are the same species. Light-skinned and dark-skinned humans are merely variants.
Humans and gorillas on the other hand are completely different species.

I think it says a lot about captivity when a mother ape willingly will not take care of her child.  Death is better than life in a cage with people laughing and pointing at you.

I never understood why there weren't some dogooders somewhere who insisted that their zoo be made with one way glass for all the higher intelligence animals like gorillas or even lions and such.
