Rest in Peace, Dr. Meinheimer / Earl Hacker.

He looked like he was gonna have a heartattack at any moment in the HP movies.  I always thought he was one of the best casting choices for the HP movies.

Good night blustery man.

Cletus C.: This guy is a double. Check the birthmark.

I'm really scared to see how many people WON'T get the reference.

He had a great bit part in Hugo, developing a blossoming romance with the giant lady from Harry Potter, over dachsunds.

At least he lasted for all the movies. Michael Gambon is a fine actor, but he was no Richard Harris.

Came to say this.  It was a cute subplot.

Indeed. Gambon can't play "dead" with nearly the realism.

He rocked the Dickensian sideburns in the awesome 2005 BBC version of Bleak House.  I saw him interviewed with Radcliffe on the Charlie Rose show during their Equus run, he was a very articulate and witty man.

Thank you Uncle Monty. I giggle quite often thinking of this scene:

[Downstairs I frantically arranges the blankets on the settee. Monty enters]  I: What is it Monty, I'm terribly tired I need to get to bed. Monty: But not that tired eh? Are you a sponge or a stone? I: I beg you pardon Monty? Monty: Do you like to sample all facets of life or do you shut yourself off from new experience. I: I voted conservative

Richard E. Grant's delivery of that line (and most in the film, to be honest) is nothing short of pure genius.  And the look on his face with the piece of pie stuck to his teeth when the yob is calling them 'Ponces!' is too good

Somebody forgot to get an order, signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, subjected to public enquiry, lost again, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighters.

When I quote that passage, I always pronounce it "love-puddin'" instead of "love-pudding".

After all, we're talking about love-puddin'.
