Is it SFW? 'cause if it is then it doesn't do GoT justice

If I'm not seeing a horse get beheaded or at least two sets of boobs then I think we can consider it incomplete.

Winter, like your Mom, is coming.....

The Stealth Hippopotamus: Is it SFW? 'cause if it is then it doesn't do GoT justice

They cut out all the boob scenes...  what was left was about 9 minutes long.

2013-03-29 11:45:25 AM
Similarly, if you cut out all the Ren Fair porn from the books (descriptions of what they ate when breaking their fast, sigils, etc), you get about 100 pages.

The series started out with a lot of boobage and sex, but it's become so wildly popular that I'm betting that they're going to cut back on it this season.  Got to think of the children, after all.

That's only true with the last book, written after Martin had stopped giving a shiat about the series beyond how much money he could squeeze from it.  Next to maybe "the" and "is", I think the most commonly used word in that book was "trencher".

Oh sure, beheadings, impalings, spurting blood, not an issue.  Parents don't feel any discomfort when people are getting their guts ripped out on the screen.  But boobs make them squirm.

If they did an online streaming service with no other strings attached, I'd pay a handsome amount for it.  As I understand, HBO Go also requires you to have an HBO + Cable subscription.

The TV version isn't for the people who already read the books.  You're dealing with a different audience.
See: Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, etc.
Many times an author will rethink the dramatic points after submitting it for publication, especially in the middle of a book series.
Since the author is on board with this production, you can assume any book to TV objections will fall on deaf ears.

All the violence, death, and nudity in "Spartacus" makes GoT pale in comparison.  GoT is the much, MUCH better show, but "Spartacus" is very good in its own right.  I just find it funny how GoT is the show most associated with nudity and violence.

Seriously. If you're going to do a recap, at least put some humor into it rather than just having some nerd read dry prose. Spice it up a little bit, like the BSG ones.

HBO's Rome had huge amounts of sex and violence in it too...for some reason if a show is about Ancient Rome, no-one seems to notice the sex and violence as much.

I just realized that you probably meant that you wanted an online streaming service to watch episodes as they air on HBO. My mistake..GoT episodes don't show up on Amazon until months after they air on TV :(

I've watched the first season and part of the second, but stopped because some of the changes were very odd and nonsensical.

I will, at least, watch the Red Wedding episode whenever it airs.

Everyone loves a wedding ... right?  *nervous smile*

There was a moment I had reading "A Storm of Swords", where I said out loud, in a WTF tone, "He's going to describe all 77 courses"

The first time through the books, I thought the same thing, and ended up apparently skipping paragraphs when he'd start on it.

Apparently, I missed a lot of things, as I'm finding out the second time through.

I still start to get that nerd glaze when I hit the food porn parts. Less food, more snark!

True that. I read all 9 of the Ringworld books in less time than A Storm of Swords.

I admit to glossing over the songs and poetry in the Lord of the Rings. however, rereading the books and actually reading the poetry, I appreciated the poetry when I took the time to read it all.

the endless food pr0n in GRRM's books... probably not the same.
