Republicans seem to think that if they can shut off government spending, they can make Obama stop acting like he's the president, or rich, or something.

"OMG, he took a plane trip!  To Europe! And Israel!  And taxpayers paid for it!"

Spending is the new code word for "uppity."

Maybe if he rode in the back of the plane it would be OK?

I didn't biatch when the Bush family did this. I'm not going to biatch when Obama does it either. Presidents and their families take vacations. I recall complaining because Bush took so many but not the cost of Secret Sevice protection.

So do we know for sure how they paid for it?  TFA didn't really say.  If the president paid for it out of his salary or other sources of wealth, I literally do not give even a single fark.  But if he paid for it on the taxpayers' dime OTHER than his salary, okay, well that kind of pisses me off too.

I'm going to go with: "the trip in question was paid for with money that came from President Obama's personal accounts, whether from book income, or presidential/private salary."  But go ahead guys, and get mad about what the president spends his own money on.

I'm pretty sure the Bush girls spent spring break 2001 in Barbados, because when I flew in there was a VIP transport on the tarmac, a lot of guys running around the island with earpieces, and nothing like an international conference on the docket.

Right.  So apparently we're allowed to get mad when wealthy people display their wealth?  Because if that's the precedent we're setting, I could run with that.

Did you know the 0bamas get their own plane to fly around in? PAID FOR BY OUR MONEY!!!! But why would he care? He's never earned a paycheck in his entire life, so he has no concept of money or of earning something. Disgusting.

Interesting article on the subject, from the Washington Times of all places.

http://communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/politics-raising -c hildren/2012/sep/29/double-standard-obama-and-bush-kids-vacations/

"Yet, those upset over the Obama safari trip didn't have the same opposition to Laura Bush who visitedhttp://www.sddt.com/news/article.cfm?SourceCode=200507111aa" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(22, 74, 110); text-decoration: none; padding: 2px 2px 2px 0px;">Game Reserve on the South African-Botswana border.

By  the end of George W. Bush's tenure, Laura had traveled to 10 different countries, the most visits than any other First Lady before her."

You fool. You foolish fool! All these tax increases have been because the little 0bamas are tired of vacationing in the good ol United States of America, and wanted to go international. Why would you defend that?

IIRC from an earlier thread, for un-official trips by the First Family, they have to reimburse the VIP flight squadron at Andrews Air Force Base the price of a 1st class ticket for their seats, but not for the seats for their mandatory Secret Service detail.  It's the same for hotels  I'm not sure how it works for the rest of their entourage.

Granted, that's a hell of a deal for a chartered jet, but they are required to travel via U.S. Air Force jets because of the encrypted communications capability and anti-missile counter-measures that civilian aircraft don't have.

Awfully strange display of wealth -- we wouldn't have even heard of it if Mr. King hadn't brought it up.

This is kind of like all those homosexuals flaunting their sexuality by being seen in public, huh?

Tomahawk513: Up-It-Tea

That was my first thought, but it doesn't make sense.  The Itt and the Tea are clearly concrete objects depicted in their images.  If the three images are to be consistent in how they reveal their clues, the first image's clue must also refer to a concrete object depicted within.  "Up," as the title of a movie, is an abstract concept that cannot be captured in an image.  QED.

I wouldn't be surprised or outraged to find out that they had a security detail paid for by the government. The rest of the trip was almost definitely paid for out with their parents' money.

I think it's Up-It-Blank.  If you look closely, you'll see that the words the poster probably wants us to infer are the clues are actually spelled out in the largest font in the images.  Since the final image doesn't have any words in it, it must be deduced that it's meant to be a blank.

Yeah, security for the 1st Family should NOT be an outrage.  Unfortunately, there are some people who are probably outraged that those two girls haven't been kidnapped yet.
