With an optional fleshlight.

I don't care if a grown man likes My Little Pony.  It's a good show. More power to you.

Where this is going to be a problem is when real little girls are at Build-A-Bear for a party, and a bunch of bronies show up and create a very awkward and creepy situation.

Much like any little girl should not be allowed to do a Google search for MLP thanks to these cretins.

Please bronies. Keep it to yourself.

FTA: "Bronies," a combination of "bro" and "ponies," aren't exactly Build-A-Bear's typical pre-teen girl. They are men - and sometimes women  .

I'm no, by definition Bronies are not women. I'm not sure they are men either....

^ This. I have been keeping track of this for my daughter, and was warned by Build-a-bear here that I will need to make sure I come early before they're sold out to bronies. The employ actually said that. My MiL is going with us Monday and suggested we get there when the mall opens, just in case, despite the store not opening at the same time. Worrying about this for a new game release I can see, but Ponies?

Awesome show, I'll admit, and most of the bronies I know hold to the friendship tennants, but the people taking advantage of something popular to post harder to find toys at triple their retail on amazon tick me off.

Actually both the male and female (actually female) members of the fandom have agreed that brony is a non-gender term that applies any fan of the show outside the target audience. But mostly generally they are male with an average age of 20-21 years old.

As a brony myself I mostly agree with this. But honestly if you search any popular cartoon with the safesearch off you'll find yourself swarming with pron, r34, and general sexy stuff or violence and gore.

I'm not buying it,  (specifically because my teenage daughter occasionally calls herself a Brony and I'm like, umm hun, No, your not a Brony.)

Yeah, because if there's one thing central to My Little Pony, it's telling people that they're outsiders and not part of a group they want to be in.

I'm sure I could go to Tumblr right now and find people complaining bitterly that male terms are being used as unisex terms. The word "androcentric" would probably be involved. But I'm not awake enough for that nonsense.

Like how the Nintendo Wii wasn't available in any retail store for weeks, if not months, but there were hundreds and hundreds of listings on eBay for exorbitant amounts of  money?

MLP fans are annoying. The pictures are never funny and all it takes is two MLP turns to turn a thread from entertaining to farking annoying as shiat once the two realize they can amuse each other by posting Pony pictures.

I know MLP isn't exactly the same as "manly", but my stepson's a fan, and I'd consider one if they weren't quite so freaking girly... There seem to be some that could be aimed squarely at the male segment of the fanbase...

Those people suck. There are jackasses in every fandom. Around here, pony merch just sits in stores for a month or two. I'll usually see if any of my foreign friends or people from areas where these profiteers operate want one.

The good news is that another company (4th dimension) is making nice, fairly quality plushes for not much more than the PoS's Target had. They only have Twilight for now, but hopefully that helps alleviate some of the Build-a-Bear pressure. Good luck.

"Brony" is a non gender-specific term and applies to pretty much anyone who isn't in the target demographic. Especially if they call themselves one.

There are a few girls who call themselves "pegasisters", but that's a step cheesier than "brony".

I tried this, because all my friends (24-28yo) keep telling me how much I'm missing out by not watching this dumb kid's show.  And it's just that:  a dumb kid's show that appeals to adults because of the occasional Big Lebowski references and other homages that aren't worth it because if I wanted to see a Big Lebowski tribute I'd watch the Big Lebowski and not a child's cartoon.

True, but there's a lot less likelyhood of two greasy, creepy nerds standing in Build-A-Bear talking about it with the Transformers on Rocko's Modern Life R34..

While some parallels exist, bronies tend to in it much more for the feel-good aspect of it than the more sexual furry aspect. Also the 2013 census of the brony herd have (pg 35) shown that overwhelmingly bronies don't consider themselves furries most generally. As a more purist brony myself I have objections to R34/NSFW stuff done with ponies, and hell I don't generally even like shipping that much, but compared to many things out there, it's pretty tame.

My 16 yr old daughter has referred to herself as a Pegasister (assumedly the female version of Brony) and I used to play with MLP when I was a kid, so this is kinda neat.

My daughter is one of those, I agree on the groan factor of the term, but hey, I'd rather she be into that, than alot of other troublesome things she COULD be up to, and likely is when I'm not aware..

The difference is that old-school Looney Tunes has overt racism, gun violence, animal cruelty and other elements that adults can justify finding enjoyment in.

I pulled up beside this on my way to work a little while back.  Not sure if its owned by man or woman but snapped a crappy pic at a stop light.  Here is a better pic of it I found.
