LazerFish: Directly attacking the US is the best thing that could happen to NK. They'd get a whole new government from the ground up.

Recent track records indicate that the US is really good at slapping around the "standing militaries" of other countries.  Subsequent laying of political infrastructure, not so much.  Mostly because it's easy to blow stuff up and move in under martial law...but things start getting stupid when you start asking the "conquered" what they WANT.

Maybe that's the idea, though.  Lil Kim recognizes what a mess his grandfather and father left, took a look over in Iraq, and said, "Heyyyy...Americans spent billions of dollars investing in rebuilding Iraq...I just gotta figure out how to go out like a hero.  Or fake my own death, fark it, most of the population doesn't know what I look like-they still think Gramps is in charge."

Mixolydian Master: They have one of the world's largest deposits of rare earth metals. You know; the stuff that makes your smartphone and iPad actually exist. I can't believe we still aren't giving them some hard earned

freedom yet.

Hippies are going to have a hard time with protest signs for that. "NO BLOOD FOR YTTERBIUM", "YOUR WAR SMELLS LIKE DYSPROSIUM", AND "I WILL NOT TRADE MY SON'S BLOOD FOR LUTETIUM" just don't have the same ring to them.

You don't put fake caviar labels on your tuna fish cans to make him jealous? You don't know how much fun your missing. You should sticky-tape a BMW emblem to your Focus and really watch them turn green with envy.

Zenith: robohobo: Does NK have any natural resources worth taking? What do we spend on SK versus how much they give us? Do we stand to profit financially?

They are blessed with vast amounts of bullsh*t

Ain't nuthin rebuilt over there.  I have good friends from Iraq.  Last time I was at their bodega, one of them was on the phone with one of his brothers (international call to Iraq.)  I was assured that there is still absolutely no infrastructure at all compared to what used to be over there.

Israel wouldn't put up with shiat.  They've gotta have an embassy or something in Seoul they can use to claim self-defense while invading.

Is that the thing with the cards, or the dice?  Or do the dudes who smell like jizzed-on socks just play it online?

dice, maps and character sheets.  hex grid too, if you've actually got the older (and super spiffy) maps...which I do.  it's actually been around for a long time and is an extremely developed setting.  There's 'traveler', which is the main game.  Megatraveler and Traveler: New Era.  Megatraveler and New Era are somewhat controversial tho, for reasons I won't go into here.

Traveler is a tabletop RPG that can be played in any number of ways: wargame, economic simulation, role playing game, astrophysics thought experiment...space opera to semi-hard science.  you can do a lot with the setting.

I never could get into those hex-grid things.

I'm gonna have to tell you about the new Wasteland game...

Museum piece, has been for over a decade.  Completely inoperable, and stupidly behind the times even if it was seaworthy.  That, and that photo is of its sister ship, the Iowa-which ALSO got the tourist-trap-lobotomy treatment.

While it's perhaps not so appealing for people who need an 18" DIAMETER penis substitute, small and agile guided missile destroyers are all the rage these days.

They're good if you want a decent simulation of melee or close-range combat without having to do a lot of math.  The nature of a convex tesselation also negates the need to do things like count every two diagonal steps as three steps (common when you're running a square grid) since there's no way to naturally "game the geometry" by taking 'diagonal" steps in the first place.  This is why the "game board" of ostensibly un-gridded RTS games like Starcraft and Age of Empires that you might not have noticed if you only play occasionally is usually hexes (it makes pathing calculations easier as well).

Albeit if you ever  don't have your grid board it's rather difficult to visualize the layout of your game-field since humans naturally tend to think at right angles.

//Hardcore strategy gamers use protractors, cords, and meter-sticks and don't have a grid at all.

Lol...."This is because of Obama projecting weakness!"  "This is because of Obama provoking them!"

Less filling, tastes great, same old bs.  Whichever way the wind blows, it's Obama's fault.

Someone sew him a pair of sparkly short-shorts and teach him a few dance moves and the border will be open wider than Amanda Bynes backstage at a Jay-Z show.

They'd have to sneak agents into China and have them launch missiles at us from Chinese soil. WWIII would not break out if NK attacked us. Nobody would side with them (except maybe Iran and even Iran wouldn't actively do anything). NK would be a smoking hole. (And because we wouldn't nuke them: not radioactive--except for any radioactivity caused by our guided missiles / bombs blowing up their facilities and weapons.)

Just f*cking kill this guy already, any of his senior brass that want to follow suit and then let these people finally have a chance at a real life. Once they're allowed to interact with the outside world, all of that brainwashing will slowly go away. Let's just stop dicking around and do it.

It's interesting that every one of these "reports" that I've seen in the news are based out of an "anonymous source" in South Korea, reported by Yonhap. Given the tight border, how would they know? And are there no spy satellites? Recon planes?
