It is precisely because Obama is not taken seriously as a national leader that Lonely Jr. is pulling this BS.

You'd think some general would love to take over and be revered himself.

I think the entire country is brainwashed. A couple of days ago they had some phony baloney clip of them kicking ass in South Korea.

And the army guys are probably the ones who get fed first and all that.

Its been non-stop saber rattling for the last month, with Little Kim trying to show muscle and the US playing along.
The questions are if he's going to cause more property damage and if we're going to respond with more than an angry memo.

He has full control of the media, the people of North Korea have no means by which to find out what anyone thinks of him. He doesn't need to do this to look strong, all he has to do is say he's strong. That's the whole thing to propaganda.

We should tell China that if they take the ground war then we would blow up anything hinting at military.  We could then split profits of rare earth metals in thirds between China, the US and a combined Korea.

If Fatty DingDongs really does Full Retard, it'll be the bloodiest but shortest war ever.

Look up "Operation Paul Bunyan". The US forces brought up several armored divisions and a couple B-52 orbiting the zone just to cut down a tree in the DMZ that Best Korea was using to spy on the South.

And China would think hard about trying to help out their crazy adopted cousin this time. The US could freeze all owed payments to Beijing and the Yuan would crash overnight.

nah.  if we invade, we'll pay the costs in dead soldiers, cash and equipment...then make sure that only 3 or 4 people (people, not companies) affiliated with the US reap massive profits.  maybe pay off one or two of the elites in china.  and then life will go on.  nobody will much care about veterans or the damage we caused, corporations will get richer, the elites will gain more territory, everyone else gets poorer and nothing much will change.

The WindowLicker: Incontinent_dog_and_monkey_rodeo: For the South Korean's and the average North Korean's sake.  Absolutely nobody has NK's back anymore, if they actually start a shooting war it won't last two days.

Strategically NK has everything to lose by escalating this to an actual shooting war.

I am more curious about what aid or food shipments they are angling for with this round of escalations.

Remember that in the past they have gone so far as to sink ships.  In 2010 they killed 46 South Koreans when they sank the ROKS Cheonan.

I've heard a lot of people say that North Korea isn't really a threat, since logic would dictate that they would only be turning their plush top-brass lives into an inferno.

But killing 46 South Koreans in an act of warfare is about as close to war as one can get. If they are really logical, why would they possibly risk everything in such a manner?

Hell even the Japanese apologized when they sunk the USS Panay, and that almost brought the two countries to war years before WWII.

IIRC the squad that cut down the tree was either captured or killed. The b-52's and the rest of the build up was a result of that attack

dice, maps and character sheets.  hex grid too, if you've actually got the older (and super spiffy) maps...which I do.  it's actually been around for a long time and is an extremely developed setting.  There's 'traveler', which is the main game.  Megatraveler and Traveler: New Era.  Megatraveler and New Era are somewhat controversial tho, for reasons I won't go into here.

Traveler is a tabletop RPG that can be played in any number of ways: wargame, economic simulation, role playing game, astrophysics thought experiment...space opera to semi-hard science.  you can do a lot with the setting.

OPB was the follow-up after the NK batsh*ttery took place. It was the Allied forces showing Best Korea that if Uncle Sam wants that tree down, it WILL be cut down.

No economy; no infrastructure; crumbling cities; a malnourished, brainwashed populace that's 50 years behind the rest of the world and lacks the wherewithal to survive without their political and military overlords, to say nothing of the education and survival skills needed for a 21st century global economy.... Glassing the place would almost be doing them a favor.

Oh, and I was talking about North Korea, not us.

Okay, two things. Firstly, it seems every thread about North Korea has the headline that ends with "shiat just got real", so I'm going to go ahead and assume it hasn't got real. I just hope that in 10 years time after war people don't look back through the Farkives like we did for the start of the Iraq war and laugh at those who got it terribly wrong.

Secondly, and most importantly, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is made in China right? So this won't affect that? Priorities, people!

Except for the North Korean civilians that survive. But their new corporate masters would be just as bad as the current regime, right?

If the North starts/continues the war, what would you suggest the response be?
