I'm currently in Washington DC for the craft brewer's conference so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

I'd like to know that myself. I thought he was still lurking here.

I was on GEnie™ (R.I.P.) using the same handle I still use on FARK and elsewhere as my nickname, when he was on it under the nickname "Roq Lobster." I remember being in several chats with him, and he was reasonably active in posting on the SFRT (Science fiction and Fantasy RoundTable) message boards.

Just in case he peeks back in here:

So is this a step up in the world for Drew or a step down in the world for Will?

Yes.

Ya know, it would be nice to name a memorial brew after Joshua Albert, the cadet he killed.

Was he the stunt pilot that got killed when they were performing the illegal formation?  I'd say it's a bit of a stretch to say Wesley killed him.

I have no trouble realizing that Wesley is older than me... after all, I was a preteen when TNG started... but...

It was my son's idea. He came home after graduating college, and he was spending the summer at home with my wife and me.

What. The. fark. I don't think I can take Wesley farking Crusher having a kid graduating from college.

Me too. So I looked it up. Looks like it's his step kid.

Count me among the "don't get the Wil hate" group.
For crying out loud, everyone just get over it.

I don't remember anyone actively hating him. Wouldn't be surprised if people were rude and abusive, though, and i just didn't witness it. Such is the way of the internet.

Safe bet he still posts on an account that no one knows is him. I think most famous people do that online, anyway.

Wesley's just as responsible, for following Nick Locarno. And when he initially lied to that panel, well, it was just as if he were lying right to Captain Picard's face. And the arrogance to go back to the Academy after the whole thing. Screw you, pal, your Star Fleet dreams are dead. Why don't you go have sex with your Traveler pal.

I'll never know how Wil sleeps at night knowing how his character defiled Star Fleet Academy's reputation. He basically ruined the future. And if the future doesn't happen exactly like all the good parts of Star Trek - I'm blaming him.

Exactly! Dang that makes me feel old.

Only read some the article. Glad they are having fun with the beer brewing thing. I know a lot of geeks who are into home brewing. Maybe someday I'll try making wine....if I'm ever not super busy. My immigrant great grandparents used to make homemade wine.

Far out, I'm in a seminar right now where Greg Koch of stone is one of the speakers... I'll try to bug the man a little bit about this project

When I bottled it, I bottled it with honey instead of corn sugar. This woke the yeast up, and the saison yeast just went bananas. Instead of finishing at 7.5% (abv), it finished at 9.8%.

He's skipping over a step, or has no clue how to brew beer. If he had bottled the beer using honey at bottling time there is no way the beer would have gained that much alcohol, and not exploded out of the bottle. I'm thinking the kit told him that he would have 7.5% and when he tested it at bottling time it was 9.5%.

At the homebrew level its difficult to test the ABV of a beer after it has been bottled.

/Mostly just jealous that he gets to brew a beer with Stone.
//Didn't want folks to think that a beer could gain that much booze during the bottling process.

and how would have known, or have been able to test after it was packaged with out access to some pretty sophisticated lab equipment? Hell, I got some pretty sophisticated lab equipment, and we still send the stuff out for independent verification of results. but you are correct. of course.. this could also be the case of the reporter doing some subjective editing and not knowing what the hell they are talking about. it sounds more like he added some honey at secondary, before bottling. but subbing honey for DM is not going to give you that much of a push with out an entire batch of glass grenades.

I did get a chance to chat a little bit about this project with Mr. Koch and while he did give me a bit of professional courtesy about it there is not much more info beyond a name, and I will maintain the courtesy until the official release time. But, Its stone, and they can do any damn thing they want to, and you will be happy to take it.

I'm the reporter, and I'm getting a kick out of these replies. Seriously, I am getting a kick out of them. I'm pretty sure I transcribed what he said word for word, but that was pretty late in the interview and I might have been going crosseyed at that point from staring at my computer screen. I'll have to go back and listen to it again to make sure that's what he said. He was super cool to deal with though, and really does have an enthusiasm for brewing.

Good to hear TerpDon. Keep in mind, you may have very well indeed transcribed word for word, and your subject could've been full of shiat. ;)

I do a lot of media stuff for the brewery I work for, and my own personal promotion, and shiat just happens when dealing with the press. You try to keep the message clear. and sometimes the message moves around a bit.  you roll with it and move on.

Please enjoy a month of TF

Thanks! Just recently started covering the san diego beer scene after the asshats at clear channel laid me off. Examiner doesn't really pay anything, but I'm treating it like a paying gig so I can build up a writing portfolio.

Lot to cover out there! Large population of breweries and pubs, that tend to get along with each other and a distribution system that the rest of call "the wild wild west". Its easy for everyone to get along if they don't have to fight each other all the time y'know.

Just make yourself available in general, go around and introduce yourself to any, and everybody. And of course, get on Brewers Association media list. The jobs will come to you. ;)
