Watubi: I have a feeling everyone would also be butthurt if they used the song in a helmet ad. Who the Fark cares, lighten up people
The5thElement: I'm part of the 3% dissatisfied customers. After 8 years of no tickets or accidents and just one claim to have my front windshield replaced, they raised my rates 90% in one shot. Just the cost of business was the explanation. Switched to USAA.
Oldiron_79: scotchcrotch: I'm waiting for Delta's "Free Bird" commercial. You're going to special hell.
wildcardjack: Ya know, in Chrome you can't fully type "allman brothers motor" before it offers "cycle crash" and "cycle accident" as autocompletes.Truly no one checks these things.Oh, and Duane Allman was killed by something beyond the scope of helmet help, Berry Oakley walked away with an untreated skull fracture and died hours later but would have probably been okay if he'd gone to the hospital.
Gnu Mutant: Dusty Rhoades as The Midnight Rider.
Ishidan: [cdn.okcimg.com image 325x249]Approves of the irony./next up, your regional airline uses "Freebird"...
scotchcrotch: I'm waiting for Delta's "Free Bird" commercial.
Twitch Boy: They could have used Jessica instead./POWERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Farkenhostile: Before I read the article I thought maybe it was about the progressive Wang Chung commercial that seems to be 500x louder in my back speakers when the song is playing. Or the vibrating phone sound. They need to ban using ringing phones in commercials to get your attention too. Why do these people think that annoying me is going to make me like them and buy their crap? Where in reality it just makes sure I'll never give them my business.
Mr_Fabulous: I'm 25 years in the ad business... Plus I'm a lifelong rock music enthusiast who spent most of his formative years in the state of Georgia. And no, that connection is too tenuous to to be significant. You're thinking too hard about it, subby.
Scorpio Rex: Mr_Fabulous: I'm 25 years in the ad business... Plus I'm a lifelong rock music enthusiast who spent most of his formative years in the state of Georgia. And no, that connection is too tenuous to to be significant. You're thinking too hard about it, subby. You give all that information on how you should know better and still post what you did? The word you are looking for regarding the deaths of Allman and Oakley is not spelled "tenuous" but "legendary."This ad is better served to sell life insurance, not vehicle insurance.
The Snow Dog: Seems like the EXACT farking music to use in your motorcycle insurance commercial. I understand the people that might criticize it, but they'll get over it. If enough people complain the company will change the music just so they can appear to be sensitive to criticism. That's how capitalism corrects some things: market pressure. Maybe the downside of the choice of music will outweigh the benefits and they'll change it. I'm good with that. (But no matter what the douche that replies to this comment says, Capitalism can't solve every problem.)But really, just STFU. It's the Allman Brothers and it's really farking good music. Please don't make them sub in some farking Yanni or Zamfir.
Tenatra: The5thElement: I'm part of the 3% dissatisfied customers. After 8 years of no tickets or accidents and just one claim to have my front windshield replaced, they raised my rates 90% in one shot. Just the cost of business was the explanation. Switched to USAA.USAA is pretty farking awesome. I started with them but my parents on the other hand didn't. When I suggested that they switch my dad looked into it and found out he would save just under $1k / yr. Even though he was 45, married, had children, has never been in an accident nor filed any other claims, and hasn't had a ticket in double digit years.Oh and their bank is pretty cool too, I like knowing that they will refund the processing fee at any ATM.
offacue: I heard Newtown is going to adopt Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gimmie Back My Bullets as their town anthem.
Ex-Texan: Bought a BMW 1600 last year. Still afraid to ride it. Hasn't been out of my subdivision yet. Worried not so much about me, but some inattentive a-holes.
FTFA: "The idea is that the rider saved so much money by switching to Geico that cash is literally falling off of him".
Research FAIL: The first commercial in the series located here states "Chances are, you're not made of money"....It took me all of 30 seconds to find it.
Smelly Pirate Hooker: Whoever owns the rights to the music had to approve its use. If they don't have a problem with it, I don't know why the hell I should.
