"The pedestrian hit his head and was found unconscious..."

That is a terrible sentence for a news article.

2013-03-28 04:47:55 PM
Did the man bite the dog first, leading to the dog to run the man over in retaliation?

2013-03-28 05:11:14 PM
To be fair, that guy ran over the dog's mom six years ago to the day.

2013-03-28 05:56:00 PM
The dog could be overheard growling 'steak biatches'.

2013-03-28 06:06:30 PM
Bad dog.

2013-03-28 06:07:26 PM
So...what's the opposing view?  Better dog-driver's ed would take money away from dog athletics?

davidphogan: Bad dog.

No, he's just avenging all the dogs that get hit and left for dead, starting with this guy.

"He was later taken to a hospital for his injuries"

I should hope it was later

FTFA: "Police say an unidentified pedestrian, who works at Hokes Mill, tried to stop the car before it hit a parked truck, but was caught between the two vehicles."

How farkin stupid do you have to be to THINK you can stop a moving car with your body, and then proceed to get in between it and another ton-plus vehicle to do so?

Moving a car with no momentum is one thing. Attempting to stop a moving car is teabagger dumb.  Darwin at work here.

At least the dog was nice enough to give him a ride.

The only domestic animal Ive ever accidently ran over was a kitten. I was in a 70s LTD and my tireslocked up with my front right tire on top of it, there was nothing but a red greasy streak left.

Just another case of domesticated terrierism.

It's OK. It was only a cat. Did the eyes fly out and make a popping sound? I love when that happens.

How many have you intentionally run over?

A dog that was left in an unattended vehicle accidentally pushed the gear into drive into bark and hit an unidentified pedestrian in York, Pennsylvania.

This is a terribly stupid joke.

This wasn't even a "See Spot run, run Spot run" if you asked me.

If the pedestrian had had a tank, this never would have happened.

That dog qualifies for a Driver's License in Massachusetts.

/Then again, I guess that's like one of my professors throwing out a Jack Parr reference

Why is this on a site called "Opposing Views" under "Animal Rights"?

Are there canine driving advocacy groups that I was not aware about?

I drive a manual transmission car so I may be completely wrong but don't you have to depress a button to move the auto selector from Park to Drive?

ukexpat: I drive a manual transmission car so I may be completely wrong but don't you have to depress a button to move the auto selector from Park to Drive?

On my wife's car you do.  But those buttons wear out over time and there is a "Shift Lock Override" that you can jam something (key, screwdriver) in so the transmission can be shifted without pressing the button.

That's one clever dog if it can wield a screwdriver.

On older automatics, if the idle is set too high, you could have the car in Park and it could still move forward if the parking brake wasn't set. I found that out the hard way, once.

Once again the manual proves itself the superior transmission!

This. If a person hasn't the intellect to learn to drive a manual car, I'm not sure they have the mental capacity to be driving a car at all. It really isn't that much effort to change gears.

/might also reduce the number of Farmers Market fatalities also

This.
You finally get your dog to the highest level of achievement in the game of fetch by teaching him to fetch your car and some interloper messes it all up.

/Is this Darwin's dog?

ideamaster: I guess we should make laws against dogs driving.  I bet they have better comprehension than criminals.

Lawmakers are going to be busy. First the law against setting people on fire, since we've had the idiot that only got three and a half years of prison because he "didn't think" setting a person on fire could kill him, and now laws against letting dogs drive, when clearly the dog must have been under age in the first place. Even really old dogs are only fifteen-years-old. I bet the dog didn't even have a valid driver's licence.

What was the pedestrian doing with a car? And what was the dog driving, a steam roller? a tank? a supersized SUV?
