The first GOP president marginalized Southern Whites.

This is one of those rare moments where O'Reilly says something sensible.
Rush doesn't actually have those moments.

Either way, they both make scads of money.

Bill's been known to have occasional bouts of sanity regarding gay rights, and has occasionally shown understanding that if the libruls win, it won't mean the end of America and All That Is Good.

The problem is that this is only evident by virtue of his peers doubling down to out-asshole him.

Well when 2 of the highest ratings programs go head to head... yup.

Meanwhile on O'Reilly last night, Christians are being oppressed to the point where they can't stand up to the liberal/atheist commercialization of Easter.

Don't be too impressed with O'Reilly. O'Donnell and Colbert both covered this last night.

If he means that the Fox viewing audience is a pasty yellow-whitish oily greasy squishy imitation mass produced by experts to mimic a traditional American product, I could see his point.

I remember a time not too long ago that Bill O'Reilly stood out as an asshole. Even among conservative pundits. Only Rush and maybe Ann Coulter were both worse and managed to be seen widely enough to get my attention. Now, he hasn't changed, but he seems almost reasonable compared to the endless line of braying jackasses that have appeared in the last ~5 years.

It is rare when I agree with O'Reilly and it usually has to do with things like fundamental rights.  Limbaugh however is a political whore who prostitutes himself to the most vile of humanity.

Nina_Hartley's_Ass: "I've been saying that all along, that if you open the door for gay marriage, then you have to have the polygamists and the triads and the commune people and everybody else, right?"

Why shouldn't it?

"Do you think there are any 'Bible-thumpers,' quote, unquote that watch Fox? Because last night, you were - you were sort of marginalized on 'The Factor' as not having a compelling argument and just being a bunch of Bible-thumpers."

OMG! The horror! Marginalizing people who don't have a compelling (i.e., logically sound, factually correct, reasonable) argument! What will the world come to if we expect arguments to actually involve things like facts and logic? Where will it end?

Jon iz teh kewl: geddy lee said THAT?

Nah, Neal Peart was always the one who wrote the lyrics and read all the Rand.  2112 is basically just the Fountainhead with music.  Though they also wrote Bastille day about killing all the rich, so I'm not sure what to think.

2013-03-28 10:23:31 AM
I hope they kill each other. That would be greeeeeeeeeat.

"Do you think there are any 'Bible-thumpers,' quote, unquote that watch Fox?

Regardless of how correct O'Reilly is or isn't, there are obviously SOME Bible Thumpers that watch Fox out there, so this 'do you think there are any' thing is just stupid.

As for O'Reilly's statements, who is opposing Gay Marriage that isn't wrapping it in the Bible in one way or another?

You can choose to marry dudes, as long as you're a chick,
But if you choose to wed same sex, god'll kick you in the dick.
You can choose to have buttsex, or munch upon the box,
I will choose a path that's clear--
Only pussies shall house cocks.

dehehn: 2112 is basically just the Fountainhead with music.

2112 is about a dystopian future where all art and creativity has left our society, and a group of "Priests" declare what is necessary for enjoyment of life, and what counts as a distraction... It's closer to  Fahrenheit 451 or the movie Equilibrium than it is to The Fountainhead, which seems to be about Corporate Finance and the Women Who Stab Us in the Back. I see nothing in 2112 that would make me think of The Fountainhead...

2112 was based on a lesser known Ayn Rand novel called Athem.  I read it in high school.  In that book, the protagonist discovers (IIRC) a light bulb from days gone by, and brings it to the elders.  Peart changed it to a guitar.  He's taken a lot of crap over the years for associating himself with Randian views, and I think largely distanced himself from the rest of her philosphy since then.

In other words, not The Fountainhead... Either way, I'm not sure how someone could listen to 2112 and think that he was endorsing the state of the world portrayed in the song. Hell, the main character kills himself when he realizes that he will never get to bring his joy to the masses, and will continue to be led by these art-hating theocrats... I think it's an awesome story, and tragically sad.

Sorry Rush, but unless the point you're trying to make is "I am currently holding a bible in my hand" then thumping a bible doesn't make your point any more factually compelling than just standing there with your thumb up your ass.

Two "evens" in the sentence?  That's odd.
