theunblinkingeye: This year is going to be the worst for Simpson deaths since 1994.

I think you mean 1998.

/Still upset about Phil Hartman.

You did not see what he did there. You should drink more OJ before posting.

FeedTheCollapse: mechgreg: monty666: I haven't been able to watch the Simpsons for a few years now. It is a shadow of what it once was, but it's still better than most shows on TV now.

/resumes yelling at cloud

Actually the last few seasons have been pretty solid. Not like Homer Goes to College awesome, but still a pretty good TV comedy. The one where the hipsters move into Springfield was awesome, the one where Grandpa was revealed to be an old time wrestler was really funny, and the one with the story of Homer's childhood dog was a really good story.

eh, I'd put it maybe on par with season 10 or 12 in terms of consistency. It has its moments, and I did like the one with Grandpa being a wrestler, but the show still has quite a few issues, especially with pacing; when the show is bad, it can be rather dire as well.("Politically Inept..." has to be one of the lowest points of the show. Satire that was way too late, Ted Nugent clearly not being in on the joke, and just generally unfunny.)

I would say the actual plotting isn't as good as back in the day for sure. At least not as consistent I mean the wrestler and the hipster episode were good but other episodes this season have been pretty weak (I think part of the problem is the switch to the 4 act structure between commercials). But the jokes are still there, and it makes me laugh out at least a couple of times an episode (even the poorly plotted ones). Plus I appreciate that with the switch to HD they have been able to do more when it comes to things like site gags, and other funny background stuff that you can only see when you freeze frame.

Vodka Zombie: Snapper Carr: "also wrote the screenplays...'Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.'"

Death's too good for him.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm sure he suffered immensely.  Bone cancer's a biatch like that, ya know.  Most just usually end their lives before things get too painful, but I'm sure he clung to as much life as he could, for as long as he could, just to make sure that you could feel that he was truly punished for writing a movie you didn't happen to enjoy.

Huh?

No.  I'm with you.  I hope the guy was wailing in the blind-pain of bone cancer and thrashing in a puddle of his own excrement when the life was finally taken out him as a message to others thinking about making bad super hero movies.

I agree with this. I think it's probably one of the biggest detriments that the show currently has. I would be more lenient if it were something new, but the 4 act structure has been around for at least a few years now. I also find that the episodes work best if there is no (or at least kept at a minimum) b-story as well.

AverageAmericanGuy: This is 2013. It's a shame they are using such euphemisms instead of coming out and calling John his husband.

Perhaps its because he is survived by his wife and three children?

I went to high school with Don. He was a great guy. He would have appreciated some of the snark in this thread, if it was funny.

Really?  That is probably the most Fark appropriate post you can have for this topic.  It is sarcasm in it's purest form and works on so many levels. Don Payne would get it and give a +1.

It's one thing to speak ill of the dead, but do really need to put that sort of thing in the poor guy's eulogy?
