I was in FL last week. Looked at some property on the St Sebastian River.

Anyone who looks down their nose at FL is crazy. That place is beautiful. Yes the downsides are obvious: you are either stuck behind some 87 year old millionaire making a left turn with his right turn blinker on, or being panhandled / robbed by a tweaker from Michigan, but for the most part there's a decent culture and history there if you look for it. And there is no mistaking the natural beauty. Stay away from the Tampa-Ft Meyers corredor, Orlando, and most of Miami, and you will be fine.
