What's wrong with having a few beers around the gaming table? The dice might roll off the edge a bit more often... but a natural 20 on the floor still counts!

But how else am I suppose to cope with all the 12yr olds infesting the Arma lll servers lately? Seriously, what parent thinks it is ok to let your minors join a voice channel populated by drunk adults like me? Do you have any idea what kind of language and verbal abuse you are letting them be exposed to. Stop letting them play adult games you retards!

I personally have found that alcohol helps with my gaming up to a certain point.  My friends and I refer to that as the 'Plateau.'  Don't game with someone that has plateaued unless you don't care about things like your KDA.

I remember a TFD thread where we all got drunk and posted random pics of random items on our heads.

Drunken ebay browsing is way worse.

Drunk gaming is a bad thing. You go to load up your save and find out you are in the middle of a field naked, you've sold all your armor, traded your obsidian sword for 5 brooms, and have married a pig farmer.

Now gaming while coasting on vicodin, however, is awesome.

For the first couple of months in the dorms, before I knew anyone, I'd sit in my room, drink, and play counter strike source.  I was pretty awesome in general, but I turned into a nearly unstoppable killing machine when I was drunk.

/Then I got some friends.
//And drank with them.

I would occasionally drink while raiding. I got pretty load and talkative but everyone in the guild new to just mute me after awhile.

Relax, I was a druid healer, I just rolled HOT's constantly...

I drink when I game, but I do not get blasted drunk.

I once logged in to WoW after a raid night to find myself naked in the middle of Silithus on my Holy Priest.  Wondering wtf I politely asked in Guild Chat, "WTF?".  I was then regaled of my getting impatient with folk dithering around while we were attempting to down that wasp boss in AQ (can't remember his name).  With a lot of booze in me I had supposedly stripped my gear and, wielding my mighty Benediction, charged in to the fray a la Leroy Jenkins and wipe us.

Everyone thought that was a grand thing.  Myself included as I proceeded to pound some more of whatever I was drinking and managed to pull that bastard back to the start of the instance and wipe everyone, again,  that was standing around waiting for buffing.  Seeing as how their healing officer had just wiped them twice (kinda) on purpose they decided to call it night.  I had no recollection of any of it.

Supposedly I then went out in to the sands and proceeded to sabotage questing folk by training bugs on them.  Alliance sent a group to take me down and corpse camp me.

deanis: is there any other kind of gaming?

The only problem is when I plan all day to game, then have a few drinks and then never game at all.

Sure helps the down time in the early phases of RTS against the ai though

I like playing drunk.

Fun. After a while people on wow get annoying though. Once your doing heroics or anything above that it seems like there is this expectation that everyone bring their A game and load up whatever vent program the raid leader has a boner for. Me? I want to participate in that part of the game but i NEED the booze so i can put up with biatchy nerds acting like prima donnas. Also its 11 oclock at night and i worked all day and want to relax. Hence the drinking and gaming. Anyways - once all that happens and your on your way with a good buzz you can just count on someone biatching that you havent studied the instance guides like I had a university course on it. Since your drunk even if you have given it a glance your going to  fark up at some point. And while that might be fine in some normal game the pansies in wow will complain. And since your drunk your snarky and you wont hesitate to tell them exactly how fun they are being right now... And everything goes downhill.

\Fyi WoW nerds: Having to read a walk-through on every instance you want to try BEFORE even going -- or expecting players to have memorized encounters isn't fun. I want to play your game -- not study it. Its a game.

I find that drinking helps with the grinding parts of a game.  Normally I have no patience for repeating a task over and over in a short period of time, but get me a bunch of hard liquor and I can play Korean MMO's all night.

I was the drunk WoW tank. When I stopped raiding my drinking decreased considerably.

That was pretty much how the leadership operated in one guild I was in.  Weekends were pretty much time for them to drink and either pvp or grind a ridiculously long period of time and level the lowbies.  Makes me kinda miss RF thinking about it -- or at least my guild, not so much the getting .0002% per mob.

I used to heal better when drinking.  More patience for the barbarians, I guess?  Not so worried about sucking down a few SP pots if I had to?  Not sure exactly what it was.

Used to know this guy who would get blind drunk and play.  For some reason,we were short a healer for this elite raid, and I asked him if he wanted to use mine.  Hopped on my Cleric- totally different bar/hotkey setup, different feats, different gear.... and managed to heal through the thing like it was cake.
