MythDragon: Well, marriage has always been defined as "the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law" (Merriam Webster).

The true horror of gay marriage is at last revealed: We shall have to purchase new dictionaries.

MythDragon: give another man a vigorous butt-rodgering

MythDragon: The male gays are more docile and controllable

For being so "old-fashioned", you sure speak pretty graphically about homosexual males. Are you sure you aren't a little curious yourself about this whole penis thing?

bulldg4life: How is someone slightly towards banning marriage equality?

Maybe something like, "Well, it's OK if some of them normal-lookin' ones want to marry, or like two really hot lesbo chicks, but none of that fruity freaky crap. I don't wanna see no poofter in drag getting married to some dude dressed like a lumberjack or nothing like that. It's OK if they want to get married, but they shouldn't act all gay about it."?

MythDragon: ...

Well I guess I was strawmanning there. I don't actualy think gay marriage will lead to horse marriage. I suppose I am sorta old fashioned that way...but like I said, not overly. If DOMA is overturned, I'll accept it and move on with my life.

Sorta how I feel about abortion (not to start a threadwar here). Generaly I am against it, (except in cases of rape, or health issues both on the mom and baby's part) as I don't feel it should be a primary means of birth control ("damn I'm pregnant again, that's 3 times in 3 months, better hit the clinic again. If I get one more punch on my card, the next one's free!") But just because I don't like it, I'm not gonna say no one else should be allowed to do it.

I'm not agianst gay people. (Especially, as was pointed out above, two hot chicks) My best friend in Korea was gay. Hung out with him all the time (though I had to tell him I didn't want to hear his sexual encounter stories, as he was a bottom, and liked talking about how good the cock feels on the anal rim). Maybe it's just that I don't want to have to buy a new dictionary....I dunno.

Cheer up, things will get better. Don't let one person's slight lack of acceptance ruin your day. Life always find a way, you know. Maybe in an all male gay environment, some of the males will turn into females and start laying eggs or something.

/The male gays are more docile and controllable...

When this is all said and done, can we move on to the real important things. Will all the young kids out there with signs, can they take the same fervor and momentum to teach kids something that is pure and right and should be taught from day one? Respect for public restrooms! Why the hell does going into a bathroom you don't have to clean, give you the right to piss on the walls and shiat on the seat? Seriously. Leave the room better than you found it. If we could all follow this logic, we can all peacefully drop a deuce any where we needed!

If you can stop a contract between two adults based on the sexual chromosome of the people wishing to enter into a contract, something that is not permitted by federal law in every other circumstance, it's not a slippery slope argument to ask:

Why can't California make it illegal for a white man to give a black man a haircut?
What stops California from deciding that people known to carry recessive traits for heart disease are forbidden from marrying?
What stops California from deciding that marriage is between an man and woman, of IQ tested to be no less than 120 each?
Why can't California to do something about their smog by saying ethnic Europeans can drive on Mondays and Thursday, ethnic Africans can drive on Tuesdays and Friday, and ethnic Asians can drive Wednesdays?
Why can't California give a comprehensive genetic screening, and prosecute for child abuse if you ignore the statistics and have a child with a birth defect anyway?

MythDragon: I am rather surpised though, by the distinct lack of rabid anti-gay marriage farkers posting. Maybe they fear being in the same thread as gay people?

Where are all the assholes and trolls that make Fark such a wonderful place?

I thought you knew this already, you can catch the gay. Like the flue season this year, the gay one was pretty bad. Everyone is home sick with the gay this week.

Actually, anyone who would marry a vacuum cleaner is someone you want out of the dating pool anyway, so I don't see a downside there.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.  Let's not be too hasty here.  You go get your marriage rights and all.  But when you get married.  You will want me there.  You will need me there.  When you file for gay divorce.

Also, please introduce me to the horse or vacuum cleaner who can provide consent and enter into a legal contract.

I see the pro-DOMA crowd went with pre-printed signs. Good idea--helps ensure you actually get a few of the words spelled right.
