Man, if anything bad happens during her tenure the backlash about putting women in charge of something will be ten times worse than after Deanna Troi crashed the Enterprise into an entire planet.

Yes because one represents all other women. Unlike men women do things all the same.

Even though I am hard on Deanna for steering the ship in the wrong direction (the planet is supposed to be behind you when firing a torpedo, not in front of you (firing out of the aft tube) when the order is "Get us out of orbit!"), still not as bad as Janeway's, "We're involved in this conflict, that means even though we have a surefire way of getting home and not violating the Prime Directive, we're going to blow this station up from a distance and take 70 years to get home!" Instead of maybe, beaming those two Tri-Cobalt devices on board the Caretaker Array and timing them to explode a minute or two after the array sends Voyager back to the Alpha Quadrant!

Star Trek has always WAY under used transporters and explosives.

For example:  The Kazon(sp) ships HAD NO SHIELDS.   Janeway could have ended EVERY single fight with just dropping shields for 1/100th of a second to beam a small explosive charge on the opposing Kazon ship's bridge / reactor / weapons / watever.

Strangely enough, during one fight with a "Borg Probe" ship (basically a Hot Pocket lookalike, somewhat smaller than Voyager) that had to remodulate it's shields when Voyager was kicking it's arse. When that happened, Harry Kim comes up with the brilliant idea of... BEAMING A FARKING PHOTON TORPEDO on board and timing it to explode, which destroyed the ship! (it was supposed to disable it, but apparently explosive yield isn't something you think about in this "think fast" decisions!) I think the writers were just looking for stupid ways to increase the tension, because the Kazon were mostly a push over enemy until they got to Borg space.

YEp, but a weak one.  An enemy with no shields OR transporters?   That's pathetic and anyone with the slightest bit of imagination could just WRECK that.

Acting as warm bodies to stand around the president is just one thing the SS does.  They mostly investigate white collar financial crimes like forgeries and counterfeiting.  Why would gender matter for that?

They were so stupid that the Borg refuse to assimilate them. Yes really. One person pointed out that their primary energy supply would generate water as a side effect but the still fight over water.
