How do they know where we're going?

2013-03-26 03:59:14 PM
I'd argue most 87 y.o. driving is more dangerous than most "buzzed" driving.

2013-03-26 04:08:14 PM
Well that makes me feel safer.

2013-03-26 04:28:36 PM
Impaired is impaired. Although you'll never get the Q-Tips here in AZ to ever vote for that. We pull people over for driving while brown.

2013-03-26 04:46:03 PM
We had a 29 y.o. do the same thing here this morning and killed herself when she ran into the cop car. Made getting to work on I-565 hell. I don't think old age had much to do with it tho' I'm betting being a 29 y.o. drunk had more to do with it. And she didn't get a ticket or her license revoked either because... well you know, she's dead.

/cop was ok

FTFA: "We moved to have his license revoked immediately," said Trooper Richard Mahoney of the Weston barracks.

Good. You should have cited him as well though. Breaking the law is breaking the law. Ignorance is not an excuse.

The Mass Pike is the most dangerous stretch of road in the country. I am surprised someone didn't smash into him on principle.

jeese, i wonder what time it was. traffic in that entire area is extremely heavy pretty much 24/7, i'm shocked he wasn't hit or didn't figure it out. He may be old, but that whole section is nearly bumper to bumper traffic for half the day, and it never really clears out

Last night on the mass pike, thought I was losing you

2013-03-26 05:05:56 PM
Yeesh. And we thought it was bad when my Gramma missed the brake and hit a fence.

She got out of the car, handed her license to the cop, and walked home. Never drove again.

2013-03-26 05:05:57 PM
If he's anything like my 80+ grandfather he was probably too busy yelling at all the people flashing their lights and honking their horns at him to even notice.

in Vegas at about 2:30 this morning, we had a 20-something drive the wrong way on 95 between Henderson and Boulder and kill himself on someone else's car. Last i heard the other driver was critical. I will bet on either drunk, high or British.

The reason we let all these old people drive is because we don't want to have to drive our elderly parents/grand-parents every damn place they want to go

/not much mass transit here in Oklahoma

Is this irony?  Or hyperbole?

The Mass Pike?  Really?   The MOST dangerous stretch of road in the country?  Its 138 miles long, most of it is just normal highway; some of it has 20 miles between exits.

You need to get out more.

I thought the doors, wheels and other sheet metal were supposed to blow of an old person's car if they enter the exit ramp instead of the on ramp.

2013-03-26 05:12:37 PM
Probably took him 4 hours and he went though 6 toll booths.

Yep, that was the deal when I was in HS and Grams hit the fence: I could have her car BUT I had to be her driver whenever she needed me.

I earned that car. And then some.

THIS a lot. I'd much rather drive the MA Pike all day than the NE extention of the Pennsylvania Turnpike once a year. And don't get me started on the Schuylkill.

My grandmother got pulled over going the wrong way on I-66 near Charlottesville, VA about 10 years ago.  The officer simply turned her car around for her and sent her on her way.  My family felt her car should've been impounded and her license taken away...so we did that when we found out about it and she hasn't driven since.

The Mass Pike is rough once you get intown, but outside 128 all the way to the NY state line is easy sailin.  24, 93, 128, and 24 are - by my unscientific estimate - much more dangerous

The passing lane(left lane) is for passing other cars and for wrong way drivers, so move the f*ck over.

/Have a nice day.

Yellow line on your left: You is going the right way.
Yellow line on your right: We are all gonna die!

//Also really hates it when a bad driver is automatically marked as being a drunk by the brain washed masses.
///32% of deaths on the road are from drunk drivers. The rest are sober. F*CK!!!!  Statistics: How is they manipulated by prohibitionists? Idiots!

Saw old lady get onto I-696 near Telegraph, then take a leisurely U-turn to drive the wrong way as cars dodged her, staring in amazement.

Not sure what happened to her.

It's not even in the top 10.  I93 through MASS is more dangerous.  Article is from US News.

A wife is watching the news when a report about a person driving the wrong way on a highway comes on. She decides to call her husband who is on the same road to warn him about it.  He picks up the phone and she says "Honey be careful there is a person driving the wrong way on the highway." He replies "Hell there's a lot more then 1"

I've been trying to convince my sisters to help me convince my dad to stop driving, he's 84. They are no help. It's going to take an accident or 7 to get him to stop. I fear for someone's life.

I've had TomTom tell me to make a right turn that would have looped back to send me the wrong way on the freeway in Dallas, and if I hadn't used the same ramp as an exit earlier I would have taken it.

I4 between Orlando and Tampa is just a highway to the grave.  So many people killed on it.  It's in a top 10 list.

I didn't read the article, but if this man isn't charged with a crime, then there is no justice.  Why should it matter if you're old rather than drunk?  The crime is the same -- it's just as dangerous to drive the wrong way because you're fark out of your mind on booze as it is because your mind is rotted away by the years. Get him into jail where he might actually be able to get the proper medical care he needs to deal with dementia and at the very least, keep him off the streets.
