Little Joey may have a rough season ahead

If Logano were to wreck into the #48 car and injure that driver, I think fans would run out of the stands and raise him upon their shoulders.

I know Joey's been a bit of a dick lately, but am I the only one that thought that was just good old fashioned trading paint there?  It was the last lap.  I don't watch for the wrecks, but I want to see a good on-track battle, even if that means bumping into each other.

Now, I never want to see any driver hurt.  Especially not as serious as Denny's injury.  Hope he gets well ASAP.

It looked to me like Logano drove into Hamlin's door when he could have held his line. His later comment about Hamlin "getting what he deserved" kind of reinforced that impression for me.

Hamlin went high and left Logano a ton of room. Logano pretty much made a right turn into Hamlin for whatever reason -- asspipery or lost the car or whatever and  after they hit it led to Hamlin crashing in one of the worst ways and places he could have. Add in Hamlin's general good reputation for not being a dick and Logano's post-race remarks (made before he knew about the injury) where he said Hamlin "got what he deserved" and NASCAR has a new villain for everyone to boo. Shame he fights like he's settling a chess club debate.

Considering the next track is not only a short track but also Hamlin's "home" track I suspect Logano is in for a long day of being spun around more than Amanda Bynes at the NBA Dunk Contest.

No, Logano went too deep into that corner with the sole purpose of making sure Hamlin did not come out of 4 in first place.

No, "good old fashioned trading paint" = both of you finish while leaning on each other.   *Offer not valid at Bristol or Martinsville where it means "passing"

If you want to bump someone fine. If you wreck them for a pass and the win? That's racin.   If you wreck both cars because you don't know how to properly "trade paint" or bump and run?  You're a dick head.

Had it been Tony Stewart that wrecked him everybody would be defending it as hard racing, including lunchbox himself.

2013-03-26 03:17:40 PM
That looked like good ole rubbin' and racin' to me that just had unfortunate consequences.  In five years this will be on all those wild finish countdown shows.

What I don't get is what business Stewart has for complaining about Joey not getting out of his way.  That's the kind of entitled crap that people got sick of hearing from Jeff Gordon.  And refresh my memory, Tony.  What happened the last time you led a Cup race and tried a questionable block?

2013-03-26 03:18:08 PM
My biggest problem with the whole thing has been Joey's remarks in the post-race.   A man had to be carted away from the track in an ambulance and you've had enough time to be informed of this, and his remarks are that Hamlin  got what he deserved?   No. Just no.

Hamlin's season is probably over. I don't think the week off is enough and missing anything beyond one or two races is pretty much gonna keep him out of the chase anyway, unless he pulls some miracle crap.

2013-03-26 03:31:06 PM
Didn't Hamlin also have back trouble a couple years ago?  I thought I remember him missing a race or two or being questionable to start a race...

Yep.  His family, including him, has back issues.  Not sure about missing races, but I believe he's been unable to complete some.

You want to do whatever it takes to at least start the race.  If you start, and have a replacement driver, you still get all the points scored for the race.

Exactly. Screw Logano.

And no, BOF, I wouldn't be happy to see JJ hurt like that, either. It is bad karma to root for injuries. Even against the Yankees.

A few months ago, I was out for a run with my woman and we noticed there were a whole bunch of guys in town with one leg. She noted her confusion on the subject and I explained there must be an ass kicking competition in town.

NASCAR just announced no penalties for anyone.

Does Joey's dad have a pit pass again? I hope so.

Yeah, I gotta blame Logano for being a true asshat here. That could have been an awesome finish, victory by inches for one of them, instead we get Hamlin in the hospital and shrub taking the win. Joey simply wasn't gonna let Hamlin pass him, no matter what, that's not racing to me, and I've been around/involved in it most of my life.

I personally don't care what Tony's reasoning was, any time Logano gets punched its all good. I think that should be part off all pre-race activities, right after the national anthem...pole sitter gets to punch Joey. If Joeys on the pole, he must lay down in front of the pace car

It looked like good, hard racing.  I didn't see any dirty driving by those last 10 laps.
Tony wouldn't have hesitated to put that same move on Logano or anyone else (JR might be an exception).

I don't watch for the wrecks, I watch for the racing you saw in those last laps.

You must have not been paying attention on turn 3 of the last lap.

Lagono went up two lanes to hit Hamlin.

I bet that there were still some mandatory meetings for a few drivers crew chiefs and owners where NASCAR offered them some strong advice on how to proceed with this "misunderstandng"

I see no reason in the world why Hamlin and Logano cannot both be found guilty of Extreme Dickishness so far this season.

I just watched it again (link).  It doesn't appear deliberate; his backend got loose a couple of times, possibly due to tires older than Denny's.
It also appears Denny gave Logano a nudge near the end of the white-flag lap or in the first two turns of the final.  Not a bad nudge by any means but it would have left Joey with little doubt about Hamlin's desire to win.

I still say 1) good racing, 2) bummer about the crash and Denny's injury and 3) STFU Tony.

/actually like Tony & Hamlin
//indifferent on Logano

After looking at everything again, I think Kyle Bush may have won even without the wreck.  The bump and grind really slowed down the other two.

If you two wanna turn yourselves into a greasy spot on a country road somewhere, go right ahead. I don't give a shiat and I don't think anybody else does, regardless what they say to your face. But you two monkeys are not going to do it on my racetrack.

they've been trading a little paint since Daytona. Last week at Bristol Hamlin ran into the back of Logano and almost wrecked him. Hamlin did immediately send an apology thru his spotter but Logano wasn't listening. I think Logano has a chip on his shoulder from being pushed out at JGR
