I don't understand this.  Is it because they feel they're entitled to ridiculous things because they have infinity dollars?

Hiring a cigar roller 'cause you suck at it is one thing.  I get that.  But the other crap he (and others) have had on riders?  DUMB DIDDLY DUMB DUMB.

doing what he loves on the side as a 'hobby' that pays?

i've known guys like that, that wound up making their hobby pay more than their real job.

Lick the blunt and then the Philly Blunt middle you split
Don't have a razor blade, use yo farkin' fingertips
Crack the bag and then you pour the whole bag in
Spread the ism around until the ism reach each end
Take your finger and your thumb from tip to tip
Roll it in a motion then the top piece you lick
Seal it, dry it wit yo lighter if ya gotta
The results, hmm, proper

So true.  And any cigar roller worth his weight is employed by companies like Arturo Fuente or Padron who have access to the finest tobaccos and thus rate the finest and most expert rollers.  There is a good reason why premium cigars can cost you between $30 to $50 each.

I think it's the conspicuous consumption aspect to it. To many people this type of thing just demonstrates that money can't buy class.

The law of diminishing returns: A $20 cigar is likely better than a $10 one, but not twice as good.

Mostly agreed. I do pick up some hand rolled fresh ones now and then, and let them mingle with the others in the humidor for a few months. A few of the gars Ive got in my humidor have been there a couple years, on top of the aging they got in the factory aging rooms.

I just picked up  a box of Swisher Sweets hand rolled premiums, from 2005. Theyve been in my humidor for a couple weeks now, might be time to test one out.

No, Jay-Z is a cigar smoker of good character (featured in Cigar Aficionado), and with the way JT was giving the stink eye to Jonathan Ross over a few Tequila shots, I'm not sure he's up on smoking down.

Besides, who the hell can't roll a blunt?

Did the same thing for my wedding.  Just another reason I love my wife.  Asked her if we could ditch the cake and get a cigar roller and she actually said "fark Yes We Can!"

Was not as expensive as I thought it would be either, and people loved it.

Oh I've seen plenty of people who are too stupid to roll a blunt. They end up ripping the wrap or rolling it stupidly. The last blunt I smoked was rolled perfectly and so was the one before that because I stopped hanging out with idiots.

Your math is a a bit flawed. In some cases it's Fark Fellatio that's on the right side of the equation.

No hate.  I just don't get it.  People don't *NEED* to be driven around in a certain type of vehicle, or have a certain type of bottled water, or only green M&Ms, or whatever the Hell.

"Please make sure there are at least two chairs and one non-soiled couch in my dressing room" is way more reasonable, IMO

When all you care about is image, practicality is irrelevant.

Alternatively, this could be a misquote by the 'reporter'.  He could have hired a cigar expert to provide quality supplies for each evening, and additional procurement skills.  This would be akin to having an 'on hand' wine expert that supplies the appropriate pairings for your evening, etc.

The 3000 series is a fine cigar as are all of the Padron line, but my taste is for the 1926 Anniversary series and they start at about $27 for the smaller ones and go up from there.  I know I can get great deals online but I only smoke maybe one cigar a month anymore. I've been smoking cigars for about 27 years now and my tastes have evolved to the point where it is just too damn expensive.  Started smoking a pipe about a year ago and I'm enjoying the hell out of that at MUCH cheaper prices.
