I still think that dude should be doing Dos Equis commercials.

I don't always visit the international space station after my congresswoman wife survives being shot in the forehead, but when I do, I say hi to my twin brother.

This is a HUGE breaking story, every link greenlit for the rest of the day will be coverage of this story.  If sea lions had bulldogs, this would never have happened.

I'm calling bullshiat.  Not only can a bulldog not run any farther than 50 yards without wheezing and collapsing, but I don't even believe that the poor, inbred things know what a sea lion is.

Jeebus, you let the gays marry and soon you have hot, dog-on-sea lion action on a public beach. Disgusting!

You are thinking of the English Bulldog:

Panem et circenses

If you aren't familiar with the phrase; it means Bread and Games. The phrase originates in Ancient Rome. The people gave up power for food and entertainment. While the senate and the emperor screwed stuff up; the masses watched gladiators and ate crusty bread.

Now; we have fast food and 24 hour news.

/ personally; I would rather see Glenn Beck and Chris Mathewes go at it in the pit

What a shock, liberals can't control their pets. Probably tried to politely ask it to leave the sea lion alone first.

American bulldogs are some of the most compassionate, kind, loyal, gentle and loving dogs I've ever known - with people.

For some reason they want to maul the shiat out of every wild animal they see moving.

To be fair, my much smaller dog would maul every squirrel he sees if he could figure out how to catch them.

A dog of that size and power?  65 pounds is not an especially large nor powerful dog.  Dogs are predators, territorial, and protective of their pack.  More at 11.

Also the dog would be with me almost constantly...while fishing, etc. Is an American Bulldog a possible choice?

To be frank with you, it really depends where you get him from. Mine is working-bred, so he'd be a freaking disaster in an apartment. He hauls a 3000lb wagon for fun on weekends and runs eight miles with my husband, comes home, takes a quick nap and is ready for more. So in that sense, not an apartment dog unless you are very active outside the apartment each day. As far as getting along with your current dog, again, depends on the lines and also the socialization and temperament of the individual dog. If your current dog is a male, get a female bulldog - if your dog's a female, get a male bulldog. That's the best combination for success. Definitely don't have two females, as that's the most difficult combination. But if you brought home a bully puppy and raised him with your dog, there's really no reason they wouldn't be best friends - my big brute was raised by cats and, despite being 80lbs of muscle, gets down on the floor and gently wrestles with them. Get a dog from a GOOD breeder (health tests, parents on site for you to meet, good socialization, etc) and you'll have a fantastic family pet.

Captain obvious says that dogs will attack or play with anything that takes their attention.  My Boston terrier would go smack a seal around too if I let her.  More accurately, she would go get hurt by the seal.  The dog just happened to be able to hold it's own and was likely happy to protect it's master from the weird thing making URT URT sounds..

Why the hell were they trying to pull the seal out of it's mouth instead of restraining the dog?  If they are that inept at controlling their dog, they should not be an owner.  I can snap my fingers and my dog will drop whatever she has regardless if it's food or whatever.  They had an inappropriate collar on a dog of that size.  Plus, you should expect other animals on the beach. It was a complete lack of control.

Cite the owner with failure to keep his dog under control and levy the appropriate fine for killing a seal.  It wasn't the dog's fault.  Give the dog to someone that will love it and keep it away from seals.  The dog was just being a dog.  It couldn't help that it's owner was retarded and/or brain damaged.  It wasn't even the one with head trauma!!!!

I saw that on the news this morning and it made me lose all the respect I ever had for that man.  He [allegedly] purchased it just to prove how easy it was to get an assult rifle.  The gun dealer voided the sale and gave him a full refund,  because he was not going to keep it for personal use (he [allegedly] was goint to give it to the local P.D.])

/[alleged] because I saw it on the TV news.

I've never owned or met a more loving and attentive dog than my American Bull.  She is absolutely the sweetest dog I've ever known.  Her only problem is that she doesn't realize (or care) how big she is.  She insists on squeezing into places she can't fit (usually at high speed, and usually trying to squeeze between my wifes leg and the door way that my wife is trying to walk through at the same time.  She also thinks that she's a lap dog.  She's only two, so I'm hoping she will stop the bull in a china closet phase at somepoint soon.

She's my first American Bull, and i'm absolutely sold on the breed.  I will likely only own American Bulls from now on.

The only thing that aggrevates me is that people insist that she's a Pit-Bull (she has papers).  I can't take her in public without people commenting on my pit.  I even had a guy argue with me - saying that he knows a pit when he sees one because he works in an animal shelter.  I stopped short of telling him he's a farking retard and should find a new line of work.  Last year, I took her to a drive-in-burger joint that hot-rodders and the car culture hangs out at on Friday nights.  Was walking the lot with her - the dog wearing a big pink collar and on a big pink leash, and her tail wagging so hard that her entire ass is shaking.  A woman walking towards me, grabbed her kid (8-10 maybe), yanked him across the isle to get out of my path....walked by scoffing at me stating loud enough to make sure I hear "I can't beleive somebody would bring a pit-bull out here...there are children here".  Almost said "biatch, you just hurt your kid by yanking him across the parking lot more than my puppy ever would"....but alas, also stopped short of that.

She's the hit of the party when I take her out in my car - especially when she's wearing her doggles.

As someone who had a cat ripped apart by two american bulldogs...I say to hell with this vicious breed. My 20 year old cat was minding his own business, had a comfortable life on a peaceful street, and DID NOT deserve to die terrified. They are not soft mouth dogs, once they bite, it is a iron clamp down on whatever helpless victim they come across. This baby sea lion is not the first defenseless beast to be senselessly slaughtered, and wont be the last as long as people are allowed to own these monstrosities.

You realize most terriers do not readily give up prey unless well trained and could have done the same thing and they are far from soft mouthed dogs when it comes to other animals right? The fact a dog was able to kill a 20 year old cat sunning itself is not a terribly effective gauge on if it is vicious.

That said I am truly sad for your loss, it is a horrible way to go regardless of breed and I am sorry for you and your cat.

It's been proven that violent animals cannot be trained to be non violent.

Dogs however, are not intrinsically violent. It's the environment, but this has been discussed ad nauseam.

Also before someone throws statistics as a reason to outlaw certain breeds, remember that black young men are statistically dangerous to EVERYONE. Yo can call them african american, black or negro BUT statistics dont lie. right? right?

Actually, men are statistically violent - that's as far as you need to go.  Also, young people are statistically violent.  The insurance companies have acres of data and analysis to prove this, and that's why insurance for young people and for males costs a lot.

And before anyone whines - yes, insurance companies are actually interested in risky behavior that will have costly consequences (that they will be required to pay for).  But you get my point.

I thought it was more expensive because they are more reckless, not violent.
