tylerdurden217: Why do law abiding citizens (or anyone really) need firepower that matches the police?

Because police aren't supposed to have fundamental rights different from those of citizens? Because their authority derives from the rights of citizens? No matter how much they object, they are only a civil force; they are neither military or paramilitary (gendarmy).

The question is: why do the police need firepower that matches the citizenry? Aren't they the good guys?

ehahn: What stupid biatches!  These girls just sat there holding the dog and didn't try to hard to grab the dog's mouth or throat, nothing!  Just plain stupid worthless crowbars!!!

But, you know....   when something quick happens you don't know how to react some times.    It's confusing in the first two seconds.

Even if I was there,   (and say I happened to have a club in my hand per chance)  would I instinctively club the dog or the baby seal to death ????

Most beaches in CA do not permit dogs (leashed or unleashed), so this will be a conundrum for them. Also, don't be a stupid dog owner. If you don't have the strength to manage your pet, stick to a goldfish.

*Would've been cool to see the astronaut stick around for the authorities to sort this out tho. AXE Spray is wrong.

Office Ninja: Uranus Is Huge!: WhoopAssWayne: Office Ninja: He apparently has no problem with owning the very type of firearm (a handgun) that was used in nearly killing his wife but has a hard on for banning "assault" rifles which are overwhelmingly less responsible for annual deaths than handguns.

Yep, and then there's this:

When it was politically expedient during an election, she was more than happy to associate herself with "assault" rifles.

So you're telling me that taking a bullet in the farking head might change one's opinion on gun control?

Who knew?

It apparently didn't change Kelly's opinion.  He is openly admitting to purchasing a .45 with the intent to keep it.

So,.. he buys a gun similar to the one that was used on his wife, but now is trying to make other kinds of guns illegal?   Makes sense to me.

Hobodeluxe: Neither one is advocating a ban on handguns.
When he bought the AR-15 it was only to prove a point that the background checks aren't as bad as the NRA is making them out to be.
They are quick,unobtrusive and painless.

Hardly.  He was trying to say that the background check is worthless because he was able to buy a gun nobody needs,   *just like that*.

Personally, I dont see the point, if they arent going to bother arresting some ex-con from trying to buy a gun..etc.

That was an amazingly pathetic attempt to get the dog to let go.... and WTF was with them yanking on the seal?  The dog wouldnt let go because it thought everybody was farking playing with it or some shiat.  Seriously, as soon as a dude with a clue went over there the dog released right away.

People are so farking useless.

tylerdurden217: dropdfun: Anything we have in law enforcement I believe the citizens of this country should have. We are not the military so if we need it then an ordinary sane citizen could possibly need it too as far as firearms are concerned.

Just a thought but his dog has now more confirmed kills then my personaly carry pistol.

That sounds like an arms race with police, which we already have. When the police are outgunned by citizens, they acquire bigger and more powerful weapons. The guns are manufactured at a prolific pace so there is an abundance on the private market.

Why do law abiding citizens (or anyone really) need firepower that matches the police?

More likely then not we as law enforcement are responding to situations after the fact. If I arrive to a situation that calls for the need of an M-4 to properly protect myself and quell whats going on then why shouldn't law abiding citizens be afforded the same with a civilian equivalent and what not before we can arrive?

I hate to say it but depending where and what time of day, responses by law enforcement can be over five minutes and thats a very conservative estimate, that seems like a lifetime if your outgunned and ill prepared.

Gun causes harm. Has no central nervous system, no legs, no eyes, can't even move. Blame gun.

Dog causes harm. Has central nervous system, legs, eyes, moves. Blame owner.

Please reconcile these two statements, libs.

So, although there are certain cosmetic and functional similarities that could cause the untrained eye to believe they are the same, they are actually two distinctly different members of a larger subgroup?  Now where have I heard that same argument before?

Very good argument, that being said please expect one of the following:
1) your comment will be ignored,
2) a response along the lines of "a dog cannot kill 20 innocent doe-eyed kindergarteners", or
3) a statement about a pancake on their head, thus your argument is invalid.

HAMMERTOE: On November 22, 1963, the President was shot in the head in Dallas, TX. Did the country go on a rabid liberal witch-hunt of rifles? No.

Why not?

When a president is shot (which has happened before), you have a political problem.

When you have a short period of time that is full of an increasing number of gun massacres which culminates in over 20 schoolkids wiped out in one setting, you have a guns in society problem.

Guns don't kill people....it's the gun powder in the shells that when ignited cause a sudden gas build-up, sending a projectile through a barrel.

So guns aren't the problem....gun powder is.

I'm unaware of any Jews being tied to rails and run over in the 1930s, but I'm sure you already knew that.  Please continue with your attempts at the "guns don't kill people" bit.

I don't think it's an issue of training necessarily.  I've had big dogs that you could trust with your newborn that would destroy smaller wild animals on sight.

You're supposed to leash your dog, not reprogram its DNA.  And they do have ways of getting away from you.
