Undefeated for the remainder of the season?   It's possible

2013-03-26 07:46:12 AM
At this point, unless the Spurs beat them, it seems unlikely they're going to lose between now and the post-season unless they want to.

They were due!

I gave up on the NBA years ago, but this is the first time that I've been interested in watching a team in a while.  Seeing how they are dismantling teams night after night is a throwback to the days of great defense and jaw dropping outside shots.  The dunks that LBJ puts on people are frightening.

Granted, I'm betting that the Spurs will end their streak, since they are as close to a complete team since the 72-10 Bulls, but it will be fun to watch.

They're on such a roll, they've beaten their own team schedule off their website.

Spoelstra should leave James, Wade, and Bosh at home when they go to San Antonio, just to keep them healthy for their playoff run.

-- the Heat are now 29-1 when he plays -- got Miami the ball with a spectacular block against Harkless.

This is the first time I've seen someone else actually point this out in an article. Now I guess I can stop saying that no one else is mentioning it.

Dude has been the biggest acquisition of the season.

It's not the athleticism I find as compelling as the consistency.  His physical talent was never in question, but LBJ showed what he's mentally capable of in last year's Finals.  He seemed to regress in the first half of the season, but it looks like he's past that now.  Love him or hate him, he's now the NBA's most complete player.  I always maintained his biggest weakness was mental toughness but this streak has pretty much put that in the ground.

IAmRight: Dude Re-signing Juwan Howard has been the biggest acquisition of the season.

They're undefeated with him on the roster.

And next Tuesday, we could see Howard, Kurt Thomas, Jason Kidd, Marcus Camby, and 'Sheed on the court at the same time.

/WHAT YEAR IS IT?!?!?

And Mike Miller and Ray Allen.

Seeing all those guys on the court might be unlikely, though, since Howard only gets to play if the Heat are up 20 with a couple minutes to go.

So apparently Stern has decided that Miami gets the Goldberg Push (tm) this year.  Ho hum.

2013-03-26 11:55:55 AM
That team the Magic dumped on the floor last night wouldn't beat the Generals either.

I remember when Riley first came to Miami, and he pulled some deal for Howard. I had cash in my hand, ready to buy a Juwan Howard Miami Heat jersey. This was going to be an awesome time to be a Heat fan!!

Too bad the commish's office was better at math than Miami's.

They were playing the Magic--the team that makes the rest of the NBA look like the Harlem Globetrotters.

Remember during the Celtics series last year when th ESPN experts declared the Heat a failed experiment that would never win a championship?

I hope the Heat keep winning.  Every victory they get makes 2011 Soooooo much sweeter.

A few wins vs. West teams in that streak but let's not pretend that taking on the JV squads in the East isn't a huge factor here.

/still very impressive.

When you have nothing to live for now, you can always live in the past.

Aren't almost all teams in the East JV squads?

While that would be funny, i doubt it would happen. Too much pride at stake

Dan LeBatard loves playing clips of those on his radio show. Hearing Wilbon, Stephen A, Skip, and Bill Simmons being so utterly wrong is hillarious. It might be up on youtube if you search under "parade of gasbags".

Pretty much. Indiana can ball a bit.

definitely helps when fouls aren't ever called on the two stars.

Not this Skip Bayless shiat again.

The reason why LBJ didn't "Get it together" before last year is his teammates in Cleveland were at best "mediocre." If you put Kobe, MJ, Bird or Magic in the exact same situation, they would have killed the GM by the All-Star break.

In Cleveland James would pass to the wide open player with the best shot, that player was Larry Hughes, Boobie Gibson, Shannon Brown, Drew Gooden. In Miami, Ray Allen, Wade, Bosh, etc...

I'd love to see that.  Why?  Not because I'm a Spurs fan, but because I'm a Spurs fan that remembers earlier this season the Spurs sitting their top 4 scorers/starters for a road game in Miami (a lot of details I'm omitting here, but it was the right call and completely reasonable - long road trip, more important conference games coming up, essentially), while the bench made a game of it and David Stern fines the team a couple of days later.

Miami does that and I'm willing to bet Stern doesn't do a damn thing.  Not that I think either team should be fined for it, just that I doubt he'd be consistent in this matter.
