I'm sure Drudge will have a story up soon about Obama ordering five "monuments to himself"

2013-03-26 12:36:24 AM
The actual list:

Undocumented Worker National Monument in New Mexico
Joe Biden Pork National Monument in Delaware
Black Folks Are Cool National Monument in Maryland
Charles Young No Really Black Folks Are Farking COOL National Monument in Ohio
Marijuana Legalization National Monument in Washington state.

This is pretty good trolling. hehe

But when are we going to dedicate the national debt to the GOP? They've earned it.

I don't think that headline could be more ham-fisted if it tried. I mean, a "Hope and Change" joke? Really? So witty and urbane. Might as well throw in "LOL Teleprompter Museum" to round it out.

But that's what makes it so good -- we can't determine if subby is mocking idiots or is an idiot. Poe, baby.

Subby gets an "E" for effort and "T" for nice try, but I agree with  Car_Ramrod, ham-fisted phrasing. Economy of phrase is your friend.

Of course Obama uses the fascist National Park Service to take land from the REAL job creators.

I love the San Juan Islands. I'd like to know the size of the monument. Does it include the entire area or a small portion? It might be a PITA for residents of some of the towns on the island if it included all of the area.

kingoomieiii: I'm sure Drudge will have a story up soon about Obama ordering five "monuments to himself"

With these "talking points" of course:
1. He did it by executive order.  OMG!  Dictator!  Hitler!  History's greatest monster!
2. The ceremony was closed to reporters.  OMG!  What is he hiding?
3. The federal "seizing" of land from the states just like Stalin!
4. Secret FEMA death camp and coffin storage areas.
5. An unprecedented power grab never ever done by a POTUS before. (Yes I know, but they weren't Barack "The Muslim Kenyan Usurper" Hussein Obama where everything he does including his choice of mustard is part of a sinister anti-American agenda.)

From TFA - "Biden has long sought the site in Delaware, his home state and the only state without a national park."

A quick look at Wikipedia suggests a much larger list of states without National Parks:

Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Misouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennesse, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin

Delaware does seem especially lacking with regards to the National Park Service though.  It somehow manages to avoid any National Parks, Monuments, Preserves, Historical Parks, Historic Sites, Battlefield Parks, Military Parks, Battlefields, Memorials, Recreation Areas, Seashores, Lakeshores, Rivers, Reserves, Parkways, or Cemetaries.

It does seem to have the Captian John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail running through it though, so there's that.  We'll have to tell Wayne and Garth.

2013-03-26 06:06:08 AM
The sites are Rio Grande delNorte National Monument in New Mexico; First State National Monument in Delaware;Harriet TubmanUnderground Railroad National Monument in Maryland;Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument in Ohio; and San Juan Islands National Monument in Washington state.

Oh, so only 60% of these are thumbs in the eyes of whites around the country.

I guess it's good that we are beyond racist actions towards minorities, but maybe we have quite a ways to go before we can move beyond prejudice against the majority.

2013-03-26 06:06:17 AM
Wasn't it just last month that Obama said that all sorts of National Park visitor centers were going to have to stay closed because of the sequester? And now he's buying 5 more to close?

Consistency... that's what I like about Obama.

Only because Obama and Congress has been spending their way out of Great Depression 2: Electric Bungloo.  Which was the GOP's fault.

Rio Grande delNorte National Monument - Hello! It's named in Mexican.
Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Monument - The whole point of the UR was to smuggle slaves out of the South. That's not prejudiced towards the whites in the South at the time?
Buffalo Soldiers National Monument - Bob Marley wasn't even American. It baffles me that we would have a national monument to this guy.

So what does "thumb in the eyes of whites" and "majority" mean? I don't see the issue with parks being named after non-European Americans and I fail to see how it hurts the majority in any way. If you see those park names and react the way you are it leads me to believe you have your own racial issues.

Massachusetts has Cape Cod National Seashore.  It's just like a National Park, except parts of it disappear every time there's a big storm.  And it has sunken pirate ships.
