(Memphis Commercial Appeal)   Based upon absolutely nothing, Tennessee lawmakers worried that a newly installed mystery faucet in the capitol is some sort of sekrit Moosaleaum prayer sink. That's the joke   (commercialappeal.com) divider line 173

PapaChester: And, on the off chance it WAS a Muslim prayer sink, how is that a bad thing?

Freedom of religion as long as your religion pretends to follow the bible.

The same reason the 10 commandments in the state house is a bad thing.

jjorsett: Interesting how all the progressives who hate prejudice think nothing of labeling everyone from Tennessee a retarded, racist, sister-marrying hick. Self awareness isn't your strong suit, is it?

That's so meta.

What ire it was a foot bath for Muslims? I don't understand why that would be such a terrible thing?

Should there be a chapel in the state house?

I can't even imagine how big of a bedwetter you have to be to be "askeered" of this Sharia law bullshiat. I mean, there are literally zero attempts to implement it and even if there were, what on earth would lead these people to believe that their governments would just go along with it. These dumbasses must get all their news from FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW:  because I can't understand how so many people, let alone LAWMAKERS buy into this bullshiat.

/not even going to mention how these same assholes want to impose christian law on us all...

...that people do in their shower at home. For goodness sakes, it would be even more weird if foot-washing facilities were added to state capitols in the name of 'basic hygiene'. Who the fark goes to the state house and says to themselves "damn, I really need to wash my feet right now!".

Is the mall a government building?

Tennessee is part of Appalachia where the locals are slow witted gun lovin' hard headed Republican maroons that have no real understanding of what goes on in the world outside their bubble of isolated dumbness.
I am a transplant from a major city to the Appalachian area and these people can't even speak, much less have an original thought.

Well, the shurriff's office is in the mall, by the beauty store.  That means it's a gubmint building, right?

/lazy troll mode off, the traffic office actually *is* in the old mall in town here (middle GA). As mallrats would say, it's the "dirt mall." They're finally getting a new office/jail built after 10 years of begging.

heavymetal: As an ultimate troll, all FARKers worldwide should write the Tennessee House and Senate comending them for their very gracious show of religious tolerance by installing "Muslim foot washing sinks" in their bathroom.

A foot away from the nearly floor-level fuse box.  All part of the plan.

skullkrusher: theorellior: Nuclear Monk: The lawmakers are going to completely shiat themselves when they find out there are places in the building where you can face Mecca.

I can only hope that they'll try to get the Mecca-facing windows boarded up once they find out.

I heard they're putting a dome on the Grand Ole Opry

Nadie_AZ: While details of the practice vary by sect, Muslims are required to wash their faces, hands and feet before praying as an act of ablution, or ritual purification. Forms of ablution are practiced in almost all major faiths.

The ritual washing of others' feet is practiced by some Christians as a sign of humility and emulating Jesus Christ, who was said to have washed the feet of his disciples before the Last Supper.

Cut off your nose to spite your face spiderface?

I really can't wait to send this story to my hipster acquaintances who just moved to Nashville, reminding them that their little bubble of paradise is still surrounded by, and governed by, a bunch of backwoods hillbillies.

Harbinger of the Doomed Rat: Silly Jesus: Satanic_Hamster: But don't you dare call them racist.

That didn't take long.

Because thinking that a sink is used for prayers by people of a certain religion means that they think that they are genetically inferior.  Hurrrr DuRrrrrrrrrrR

If you think that racism is simply thinking another race is "genetically inferior", then you're probably not educated enough to contribute to this conversation.

Well that's what it originally meant...it's lost all meaning now.  Now it encompasses anyone who doesn't wholeheartedly agree with a liberal for any reason.

Thank you though, O wise one.

It still means that.  If panicking about Muslim feet scrubbing means anything else, I'm not sure that it's an upgrade.

A gay one at that.

max_pooper: They should be very worried about the installation of this sink not because it's a secret Muslim prayer sink used to force Sharia Law on good Christian white people but because it's been installed two farking feet from an electrical panel.

While most states exempt state owned buildings from local building codes and inspections, I find it hard to believe a licensed plumber would actually install a mop sink that close to an electrical panel. It must have been installed by Joe The Plumber: Overtaxed American Patriot.

This.

That depends. If you're reasonable, then it's use of public funds and a public building to provide facilities for the use of one specific religion. If you're unreasonable, then it's the Devil's water fountain.
