Nothing will happen.

I don't think she's going to win re-election this time, even in batshiat crazy Anoka -> St. Cloud.  The only problem is every time she runs, her opposition puts up someone bland and forgettable, and that doesn't play in American politics.

Unless they decide that she's damaging the brand too much.

Ironically, this will no doubt help her fundraising as head injury patients nationwide sell their handmade plates featuring a hand-painted image of Dale Earnhardt being carried aloft o'er the Twin Towers by a crying eagle and forward the proceeds to Michele lest the sodomites make her doubt her faith, no matter how much Marcus sacrifices himself in her defense.

At this point, especially because of the way she screwed over people in the GOP base, she may very well get thrown under the bus.

Jim Graves was pretty good, likable, charismatic. He just couldn't match Bachmann's vitriolic bigotry and lies.

That may not be possible. Isn't she a committee chair? She might be a little too powerful to tangle with on an ethics charge. They may opt to let her suffocate quietly with no support in the midterms.

I did like Graves, but you gotta have some serious stage presence to combat that useless pile of canine excrement that is Ms. Bachmann.

She sits on a couple of committees but doesn't chair any.

She is on the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, which oversees the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, the various military intelligence services, and much, much more!

So, sleep tight!

Office of congressional ethics? Perhaps next she'll be investigated by the office of water dryness, or the office of Tea Party Fitness.

Is Charlie Rangel still a Congressman? Yep. Nothing Bachmann could ever do will be as corrupt as he is. Non-issue here.

Next?

"She doesn't use the most credible sources," explains one former staffer, detailing Bachmann's reliance on stories from the conspiracy-peddling WorldNetDaily to shape her worldview, "and she tends to listen to the last person who talks to her." Bachmann is also a member of the House Intelligence Committee.

So so scary. Maybe she heard "Intelligence committee" and she thought they were handing it out.

Meh. She'll get no more than a slap on the wrists.

No one in Congress wants to see someone get jammed up for campaign finance stuff because they could be unknowingly (or knowingly) breaking the same rules.

She isn't black so she wont be found in violation. House ethics committee is basically a white lynch mob.

That IS their party. They don't want the party back; they simply want to squawk that nonsense loud enough and often enough to get some of the centrists to believe them.

Not sure where you live in MN but that isn't the case whatsoever.  What has happened in prior elections is that the Independent candidate took enough votes so that the DFL candidate just couldn't win.  This time the DFL ran a millionaire against her and the Independent party wisely choose to not run a candidate.  Unfortunately - due to redistricting - is now even more red than it was before.  Raising the bar on what it takes to defeat her.  He still came within a percentage point of defeater her - which was rather impressive.

Considering they did that for 2012 and she still won (barely) despite Obama's coat-tails, I don't think she has much to worry. Her district is just that dumb.

2013-03-25 07:01:02 PM
Not to defend Bachmann, but from what little details are available, it sounds like the issue is, she had a couple people in her campaign staff who maybe did questionable / illegal things with finances, and did she know about it?  It doesn't sound like she's accused of doing anything herself, so far.

Apparently she attracts a TON of cash from her nationwide AW activities, far more than a normal congresscritter. AFAIK she uses it for legit political purposes, but it's certainly possible that something went squirrelly.

Yo, Admins? Any of you in here??  Read this quote from tfa --

See that?? From the mouth of a Republican Congressional staffer, the admission that you can't believe a damn thing you see on that stupid site. Now, would you be so kind as to remember that quote the next couple dozen times somebody submits a story from that place? Thanks in advance.

The house ethics committee is a dog an pony show.  The most they have ever done is censuring.  Which is a fancy word for "wrist slapping".  I'm not sure they have ever recommended expulsion.

You mean the biatch that has absolutely no problem slandering the good name of a private citizen of Middle Eastern descent for no good reason, and pretty much lies egregiously every time she speaks in public, may be guilty of ETHICS violations?  What is this world coming to?

If Boner had anything even closely resembling a set of balls, he would have censured her ass a long time ago.

While I often cringe at the hate spewed towards Sarah Palin, I, on the other hand, find Michelle Bachmann to be completely indefensible.  Bachmann is actually holding office.  She is in a position to pass legislation, but she seems to exist for no other reason than to ferment hatred and fear in her constituents.  She's a farking atrocious human being.

2013-03-25 07:16:37 PM
I have mixed feelings about this.  She managed to get more than one lifetime Republican I know to consider themselves independent.  They'd split their ticket just for her.  There was almost a hint of mindful democracy and it was all due to her.

That's an interesting concept of "ethics."  Let's see if I properly grok:

A person's wrongdoing should not be an issue if there's someone out there who's done worse.

Is this part of that "personal responsibility" thing that "conservatives" are so proud of?

Hopefully she will die a long and painful death.

Incredible POS.

Sarah Palin is not better than Michele Bachmann in any way. They are both grifters, they are both prolific liars, and they both promote hatred, intolerance, and belligerent ignorance.  They are poisonous disgraces to the American political system and to the legitimate efforts of politically-inclined women everywhere.  Except for sexual slander, the two of them deserve every ounce of rebuke they get.  Also, it's foment.

See this Tea Party? Obama is going to burn your queen at the stake. Do what God is calling you to do:

An all out assault on the "White" House. Do it for Michelle. Do it for America. Do it for God!

God is on your side. Do what God is commanding you to do. Go now.

There's a better chance of her being in jail than of her being in congress by the end of this year.  This investigation isn't the only iron she has in the fire.

2013-03-25 07:28:49 PM
Please, nothing will come of this. This is what underlings are for, to fall on their sword and....oh wait, she didn't pay her underlings, did she? Someone didn't make it all the way through "Art of War" I guess.
