So this company Red Edge is going to build Facebook pages for GOP candidates and give them a "social media presences" for a small fee. Brilliant. These guys are going to make millions off the GOP because the GOP thinks they lost the election because they weren't hip enough with the Facebooks. A fool is truly born every minute.

And the best part is the people at this company don't even need to know anything about social media or political campaigns. The GOP did spend a bunch of money for terrible and inaccurate polling and statistical analysis during the last election and I don't even think they even bothered asking for a refund on that.

Well, that's why he was buying Twitter followers.

Yep.
After reading this I'm thinking about starting a company like this targeting local GOP candidates and having two of my white friends as the face of the company. Just tell them "We know the Facebooks and the Twitters, you need the Facebooks and the Twitters to win."

That's fine, so far the best they've got for 2016 is Rand Paul and if anyone needs to be President less than Mittens, it's Rand Paul.

How long did it take them to find an actual True Believer conservative that's also tech and social media savvy? I'm not saying they aren't out there, but they must be few and far between.

Carly Fiorina and the eBay woman would go great in this scenario too.

Little did we know...

Make no mistake about it. Obsessing about Mitt Romney's hair or his twitter account can make you ignore things like his proposed policy.

So, I got two Obama 2012 beer cozies and Biden Bobblehead for my vote. Dammit. I could have used the cash.

I was in Chicago in 2011 and taking a few pics when my picture of Lincoln Park in Facebook somehow got tagged with Michele Bachmann as it appeared she was one of my friends. WTF? Who was this tech-savvy GOP shill/a-hole who did this? I have about as much use for her and the GOP as a DVD rewinder.

Devil's advocate: while it wouldn't have changed the election, a better IT division would have helped.

Mostly they just didn't have any kind of GOTV program to speak of.  I think they were still expecting the Teabaggers to do their work for them.

2013-03-25 11:32:21 AM
Well since the GOP's problem is due to the "substance" of their policies, addressing the "style" of the GOP's online image will not help. If anything, it just better educates the American people on the GOP policies and why they should be rejected.

I remember that some lady was blaming their IT failures on "Obama voters" because "Obama voters" are the majority of people in IT, the Romney campaign had no other choice but to hire them and they purposely sabotaged the campaign by causing some program they were relying on to fail.

Unless...those tactics aren't as effective as they think?

SHHHHHHH. Don't you bring your fancy book-larning and elitist Latin round here boy!  EVERYBODY knows it wasn't Mitt Romney Strong, fearless conservative ideas (though really, ol Mittens was nothin but a dirty RINO and everyone on Free Republic agreed, including the site's moderators, right up until  Mitt got the nomination and the site's moderators rightly threatened to ban anyone calling Mitt a RINO) that lost him the election, it was the MEDIA twisting his words by playing video of his actual words instead of what his campaign's press secretary clearly told them Mitt MEANT to say.    And those evil liberal hippies on twitter and Facebook did thier part for thier kenyan born Fuherer too.

Every time I posted that photo of Obammy with a bone through his nose with a caption criticizing Obama care or tried to start a petition to have him deported back to Kenya and his mother put on trial for miscegenation, do you know what happened?  I'd find the post removed because it violated some made-up thing those Communists called the "terms of use policy", .  And when I post my ten paragraph long manifestos that clearly would have glavinzied all right thinking Americans into voting for Romney,  even though I'd post the same thing every day for a month, it would appear to get ZERO likes, which is weird because I'm completely positive all my Facebook friends and coworkers  were appreciating my deeply insightful poltical opinions and nodding along in agreement at my salient criticisms of Bama-lama-ding-dong and "Moose"-chelle.

Thank God  even those snivileing libs couldn't stop a brave conservative woman like Michele Malking from winning the Twitter anyway

I think it was more tightly tied to a lack of likes in the general population as opposed to just FB. Even many GOP voters did not like this guy.

Which leads us back around to the fundamental problem of them being out of touch with reality.

They really believe people only like Obama because his people are better at tricking voters than them and they're trying to figure our how.

They've based their campaigns solely on tricking people, going back at least to the rise of Karl Rove, so they can't conceive of actual policy having anything to do with gaining voter support.

Techies are critical thinkers.  That eliminates the GOP as a choice by default.

I have a derp Twitter list and last night it mostly consisted of right wing pundit clowns yelling at Jim Carrey for some sort of parody song he released about gun nuts.

Here's what conservatives "winning Twitter" looks like.

Dana Loesch: If you hate guns so much why aren't you publicly denouncing every movie that's ever had a gun in it?
Jim Carey: (doesn't respond)
Dana Loesch: I WIN! TAKE THAT LIBERAL HYPOCRITES!
