Yep, if you're going to wreck someone at 200 MPH in a 2 ton chunk of metal you should be willing to take a punch in retalliation.

Though Hendrick Racing would suffer as they don't have anyone to be an "enforcer"

Pretty sure Jeff Gordon would turtle.

Does this mean race teams will have enforcers as one of their drivers?

John Scott may have a career after hockey.

On the one hand, I think Smoke would destroy pretty much anyone in the field.  I would love to see him giving JJ the ol' facewash.

The same rules apply: the guy who leaves his helmet on is the wuss. The smart wuss, but the wuss nonetheless.

And if that helmet has a visor, that's two extra minutes in the box.

Who would be in the top 5?

Quick, off the top of my head-

Edwards
Bowyer
Kyle Busch
Robbie Gordon (is he still in Cup?)
Smoke

Is this the Tony who needs a bigger race suit every year? You gonna sit on him Tony?

I think he's largely out of it now - I haven't seen him in a race since 2011.  Off to Wiki...

*runs out for a minute, then comes back*

Wikipedia says he ran the road course events in 2012, but closed his shop this year.  I don't want to say "serves him right", but given how he's spent most of his career trying his hardest to give common sense the finger...

You mean like Logano?

Here's the thing. Logano is making enemies and one day he's going to get all of the pay back he deserves.

Denny Hamlin was airlifted to a local California hospital following NASCAR's Auto Club 400 on Sunday, after crashing during the last lap of the race. Hamlin spent the entire night in the hospital after complaining about back pain, according to USA Todays Jeff Gluck, but further details on Hamlins injuries arent expected until later on Monday

Enforcers don't start shiat.....they finish it.  If you don't think a "payback fight" rule wouldn't open up JJ, Gordon, and Earnhardt to some rougher racing, knowing that none of them nor Khane is going to come fight you in the pits, then I don't know what to say.

Also the biggest redneck here Kyle Busch likes to start shiat, but he swings like a woman.  Smoke would beat the shiat out of him.  His only real saving grace is that he does win.  He's Logano with a lot more Ws.

Lucky. I'm working on my Masters, have all my teeth, love NASCAR... but I'm from Kentucky.

However, I'm probably about the only person in the state with a full set of teeth.

I live in CT, have a bachelors degree, all my teeth, own a home that doesnt sit on wheels, and like NASCAR.

Logano isnt making too many friends, cait wait for next race.

I just wanna see someone beat up Danicka.

I like Tony and all, but biatching from a guy who has said he'd wreck his own mother to win a race, I would remind him he does this kind of stupid blocking shiat himself.

Let me point out the obvious flaw in your argument.  Logano didn't "win" anything he just blocked half the field then wrecked a guy and got zippy for it.

If he blocks and wrecks a guy and WINS he's considered a good racer (See: Dale Earnhardt, Sr.)

Winning is the difference between being a dick that has to be respected and just being a dick.

Suck it up Tony, he raced you and used reasonable blocking.  You're frustrated, I get it, but you got beat in a fair race.

Doesn't Edwards have some advanced (brown/black) martial arts training?

There was a beating at my place and Danica was involved.  sort of...

Blocking on the pace  vs. blocking on a restart are completely different animals.

I think Tony was really mad because he thought Joey spun his tires when in fact Joey was lifting to make sure he didn't beat the leader to the line.

2013-03-25 01:56:52 PM
If Tony is going to be an enforcer, he had better get some longer arms.

2013-03-25 02:05:41 PM
The object is to win the race [think Herm Edwards]!  If you're near the lead on the last lap, you protect your spot even if it means you ultimately do not win the race.  You sometimes have to block to have a CHANCE to win.  Every driver has done it.  I like Smoke a lot, but he's trying to bully Logano.  Hamlin is just a prick.  He blames everyone except himself ... Gen6, TRD, blah, blah, blah.  All that happened yesterday is good 'ole hard racing that is much needed for the sport.  I'm not a Logano fan, but I like the fact that he's tired of being pushed around.

/have at it boys!

I'm probably showing my age considerably here, but I'll gently remind folks that one of the things that tends to be most remembered from the first live airing of a NASCAR race on network television (the first live showing of the Daytona 500 from 1979) is none other than Cale Yarborough and Donny Allison (and shortly thereafter, Bobby Allison) knocking the everloving shiat out of each other...which pretty much got the national spotlight on NASCAR in the first place. :D

Quite the knockdown, too:

They actually do.  However, the racers' crews generally calm them down quickly.  Pretty sure no one is going to get in any trouble for a post-race fight.  They're not as common or as much of a tradition as hockey... but NASCAR generally has no issues with them.

Just do it already, NASCAR.  I'm pretty sure that's what all your fans really want anyway.

Is there a fight after every NASCAR race now?
