Are we sure it was the Ducks home ice? I heard lots of "lets go Red Wings" chants last night and Al the octopus even made an appearance late in the 3rd period.

Relevent? I guess subby hasnt been to the Joe. They are running out of room to hang banners and they just played a team named after an Emilio Estevez movie, hows that for irrelevent?

Yet that team named after an Emilio Estevez movie has won more Stanley Cups than Vancouver.

That's nice.  I just came here to say

WHOOOOO PENS, 12 in a row.  I was at the game last night, and hoo boy, was that fun.  Even more fun watching the lone Philly fan in our section get kicked out for repeatedly standing up to flip people off and then spitting on someone.

Is the Stanley Cup even allowed in Canada anymore?

A four-day break feels like an eternity in this short season. Tonight's matchup with the Kings should be good. GO HAWKS!

Of course. All the Canadians that play on your American teams bring it back here every summer when they win it.

yah but no Canadian teams are winning it is what Im getting at. They turned it into a damn liquor still in NC when the Hurricanes won it, they didn't know wtf it was down here.

Hossa still out, Shaw possibly out with the flu.  With two games in a row, this will be an important 4 points with the Ducks playing the way they have.  Thanks for doing what the Hawks couldn't do Detroit!

Even with all the rumors going around I hope this isn't true. Besides if Iggy or anyone goes the Flames will just trade whoever for some has been or never will be.

Bouwmeester, Sarich, Stajan, theres so much other trade bait (dead weight). Dare I even say Kipper?

From the rumors, it just seems that the asking price for Iginla is pretty high...a roster player, prospect AND high draft pick.  That's pretty expensive for a rental player (even if he is saying he doesn't want to be a rental).  Of course, the Pens could still get him...but I think Morrow was a better deal at the price- and they got a third back in return.  Pittsburgh doesn't need a high scorer...they just need someone who can fight for the puck and dump it in.  Here's hoping that Morrow's health holds up, but I definitely think this move makes the Pens deeper for this season.  We'll see if Morrow stays or goes after this season, with the cap situation and all.

I just want to see Jarome win a Cup. He deserves that. It obviously isn't going to happen in Calgary, and I don't blame him for a second if he wants to leave. I thought Pittsburgh was the best choice, but a trade there seems unlikely now. Perhaps Boston or Chicago.

hitmanric: Bouwmeester, Sarich, Stajan, theres so much other trade bait (dead weight). Dare I even say Kipper?

I'm reluctant to sh*t on Bouwmeester. Sure he's not putting up offensive numbers as much as we'd like, but he plays a sh*t ton of minutes. Who the f*ck else on the Calgary roster is going to pull 26 minutes a night? Sarich? F*ck no, we'd be in last place by a mile.

Matt Stajan isn't Feaster's fault. Stajan is the lone piece of driftwood we have from the Phaneuf deal which rivals the Leeman for Gilmour deal as the worst in Flames history.

Sarich is a complete waste of space and that Feaster re-signed him to $2.5 million a year and then he sits for 14 of 16 games is truly WTF.

It's Jarome Iginla and Jay Bouwmeester to Detroit for Valtteri Filppula, Brendan Smith and Gustav Nyquist.

Book it, done. I hate losing Nyquist and Smith, but Smith's stock is overrated outside of Detroit. Filppula seems to have lost steam, but I'm sure other teams would snatch him up as a quick rehab, so the only painful loss is Nyquist.

Why was this greened?  I'm even a Wings fan and don't think this should have been greened.  2 games, big-whoop, still trying to hold onto a playoff spot.  Though, that temper-tantrum last night by Getzlaf was hilarious.

I think Iginla is sort of a Ray Bourque situation- franchise player for 1 team who deserves to win a Cup before his career is out. Calgary is going no where and they need to start the rebuilding project. OK, they needed to start that 2-3 years ago, but still the point remains. I think he's going to a contender at the deadline. I just hope it's not LA, Pittsburgh or Detroit (if we can call them contenders).

Just saw that.  I don't have an opinion on this yet because I haven't really seen Murray play.  Any thoughts from someone who has?

Sorry, but the statistics still show Chicago with more points, more wins, more goals scored, fewer goals allowed and a better penalty kill. The only areas Anaheim leads Chicago are on the power play and in shootouts.

PS- are we making this our power rankings thread?
