,"he remarked while downing his sixth bourbon."

/dont know if PAUL actually drinks, but that's how the argument usually goes.

If only he was in a position to do something about it.

2013-03-24 02:33:58 PM
Pretty sure that was Aqua Buddha ch.3 verse 24

2013-03-24 03:06:07 PM
How does one abuse marijuana? Ohhhh.

2013-03-24 03:22:25 PM
I will agree to legalizing pot, but in return the government must find another way to ruin people's lives.

2013-03-24 04:24:00 PM
Good for him. Now legalize it, shiathead.

2013-03-24 04:26:59 PM
What is this a "followup" to?

Does obamacare count? I heard it kills people.

So why is it wrong?  "Because I believe it is" isn't a real answer.

But, but, marijauna must be kept illegal. How will the pharmaceutical and alcohol companies survive the loss of insane profits over peoples freedom to use a safe drug while not getting all crazy and blaming the alcohol or grannies medicine cabinet.
/Follow the money trail of those that want to keep marijuana banned.

Literally.

Not surprising, Pat Robertson said the same thing a while back, but since it was Robertson, there was bound to be derp involved. Quote:

"I just believe that criminalizing marijuana, criminalizing the possession of a few ounces of pot, that kinda thing it's just, it's costing us a fortune and it's ruining young people."

I agree with him, but it's funny that he thinks a few ounces is "a tiny amount" of pot (from another quote I can't find right now).

KrispyKritter: Good for him. Now legalize it, shiathead.

Can't.  Marijuana is a social drug.

/soshilizm!

Your average libertarian is all for legalizing weed, arguing that smoking it isn't really harming anyone.  But legalize an illegal immigrant who has been living and working here for 20 years?  No way, they broke the law, there must be consequences.  Deport, deport, deport!

2013-03-24 04:40:47 PM
The marijuana was asking for it! If it didn't want to be smoked, it shouldn't have been flaunting its sweet, luscious self about in rolls of paper!

Not bad. He's positioning himself for 2020 or 2024 after Hillary.

I wonder why he didn't mention his own experience as the Aqua Buddha. I hope they do repeal the mandatory sentences as they are complete bs.

no shiat. i watched a few minutes of that. found myself agreeing with (some of) his positions. dammit politicians are supposed to be two dimensional and easy to categorize.

well he passes the last one pot views notwithstanding.

That.

Not fond of Rand, but he is correct on this. Temperance should not be legislated - nor judged for that matter.

Only thing to cure hot flashes?

Yep. Weed.

Seriously, Randy. Shiat or get off the pot.

That's kind of my take. Hope I'm wrong about him, but I don't think I am.

Well, kinda, if you are talkin about "libertarian" Repulicans. The actual LP supports immigration reform and the free movement of people across borders.

You would think that a libertarian would be for a cheap, easily repressed source of labor.

Marijuana use isn't wrong... MS is wrong... Marijuana just makes the MS less wrong.

No need to be confused.  Just repeat this: "Rand Paul occassionally arrives at the correct conclusion by starting with false premises and applying logical fallacies."

No cop will jail you for using it. Arrest you, usually. Fine you, you bet.

"Marijuana abuse is wrong...".

Breath too much air too quickly you pass out, drink too much water too quickly and you can hallucinate or even die. To much of anything, even a good thing, is a bad thing. That's a given. What else ya got?

"...but we shouldn't jail people for using pot".

Forgot to add "or selling it" but other than that? Yeah.

That should be the de facto position of both conservatives (from a small government standpoint) and liberals (from a personal liberties standpoint) and the fact that it is still seen as a bold political statement to make here  in 2013 is kinda disheartening particularly as it's only coming from the self certified Teahadist and pal to the God botherer crowd Rand Paul. That noted, if this kinda talk sparks more Dems and Reps coming forward voicing support it will be a good thing.

It's a multi-billion dollar industry who's revenue stream contributes significantly to organized crime which would find a much better home in government coffers.

/Meh, I just smoked a jay so the above may not even make sense.

You seem to know a lot about what the average libertarian thinks. Please tell me more.

Rand Paul has some really good ideas and some really really bad ideas.

2013-03-24 05:51:58 PM
Isn't that what 'Abuse' means?

2013-03-24 05:53:50 PM
I'm not going to get mad at him for being right about something.  It seems like a positive sign if politicians can get over the ideology BS and get something positive done about something.

Aqua Buddha's going all in on the Reason/Reddit vote, isn't he.

2013-03-24 06:09:47 PM
I'm all for legalizing pot, not only because I enjoy it but because then maybe stoners will cease to exist.  No one puts up posters in their dorm room of the CEO of Budweiser, and no one goes 3 years without washing their hair to show us how much they love coffee.

I think it was Todd Barry I heard say 'legalize pot, but leave being a pothead illegal.'

Are you telling me the single most well known Libertarian in the country thinks we should decriminalize a drug? How did this not get news flash?

2013-03-24 06:22:34 PM
It seems that his definition of marijuana abuse is any use at all, or did I read that wrong?

He's half right.

Having already lost GOP support by not advocating "special shower rooms" for gays and environmentalists, he really has nothing to lose at this point. EVERYONE GET BAKED!

Has anyone else mentioned a stopped clock twice a day?
