gingerjet: stuhayes2010: Don't understand the JJ hate over Star Trek. I liked it. But then again I know it's just a movie and don't take it that seriously.

Neither do I.  JJ saved Star Trek.  But Star Trek fanbois think the show should be about enlightened individuals who sit in the ships lounge drinking tea and discussing philosophy for two hours.  Not actually - ya know - doing stuff.

/considering how bad ST:TNG and most of the movies were - I'm completely surprised that it lasted this long

Well... if you cant understand it, perhaps this will help.

Its like if Hollywood decided that, because Ghandi isn't relevant anymore, they should turn him into an action hero. I mean, this way he's relevant again right?!-nevermind the message, because its just getting him back into popular culture that's important, yeah?

That's what's been done to Star Trek.

Now, for the record, I enjoyed the reboot, it's a fun action romp. But to me it seems it's cost Trek it's heart and soul.

Lucas already accomplished that.

His Star Trek fanfic is an abomination but I'd be hard pressed to see how he can fark up Star Wars worse than Lucas did himself.

I thought every JJ related Fark headline had to use a lens flare joke.

Or we could say that the Twilight series made it cool to have Werewolves and Vampires in Major Hollywood Movies again.

simplicimus: Oh, just Star Wars. I was afraid it was Dune.

Dune universe is far to complicated for a movie or miniseries. Though Sci-fi's children of dune was a good attempt.
