So ronery.  We should give them what they want so badly.

I've seen Red Dawn 2012, so I'm getting a kick out of reading these replies... but I'm dying a little on the inside.

2013-03-24 03:47:17 PM
Red Dawn 2012 must have really sucked.

2013-03-24 03:49:24 PM
Having been educated in the west, I was under the impression that Un was supposed to not be quite as bat shiat insane as is father and grandfather.

They are welcome to try, put up or shut up NK.

2013-03-24 03:49:46 PM
So they're going to dominate the south and the US through extensive use of stock footage?

Dear god in heaven, what happens if they get their hands on Photoshop?

I don't get some of the propoganda coming out of NK these days. Have they forgotten their people don't have access to the outside world? They can show whatever BS they want internally, but they have to know the rest of us think it's laughable.

AirForceVet: Red Dawn 2012 must have really sucked.

I like the original, but the 2012 version made me want to blow up Hollywood.

2013-03-24 03:52:08 PM
Paratroopers? Really? In what scenario do they get air superiority? The only things sending over paratroopers would do is make it rain body parts.

BizarreMan: Having been educated in the west, I was under the impression that Un was supposed to not be quite as bat shiat insane as is father and grandfather.

I had really hoped that would be the case too. I'm not sure if it's the generals he's surrounded by or if he is really this unstable. Of course, maybe the generals keep supplying him with BigMacs and he just goes along with whatever they want to do.

Oh, and Un should go be fat somewhere else.

I liked this movie when it was called "The Mouse that Roared".

The Big Mac theory should work on the invasion force as well.  I predict it comes to a complete standstill at the first Wal-Mart they encounter.

It seems odd that they would group their armor so closely together that a single cluster bomb could wipe out an entire company of tanks.

2013-03-24 03:56:42 PM
I could actually see NK try something on SK. Everyone keeps saying "let 'em try it". But didnt we find out that korea and vietnam were not considered wins or losses? More like a draw? Seems pointless for both sides, imo..

And you and you ALONE get to pay for it all, lock stock and ammo box, instead of us taxpayers.

Ever since I watched the Vice video every time I read the nation's name I can hear the propaganda's video narrator saying "North Korear".

How many "Korea" stories have we had lately?  I wonder if the populace is being tempered for war.

Don't underestimate the power of wartime stock footage.

That video makes me wonder what would happen if they ever tried a real invasion like that.

My guess is those divisions of crack paratroopers would quickly disintegrate as the soldiers all jumped at the first opportunity to go AWOL.

2013-03-24 03:59:07 PM
I can't wait to see what Kim Jong Un will look like forced out of a spider hole. I doubt that baby face can sprout a Saddam beard or KSM shoulder hair.  Myabe he'll have some kind of fu manchu.

Best Korea is now taking its propagandist cues from the SPOILER: Olympus Has Fallen script?

2013-03-24 04:00:31 PM
The latest propaganda video to emerge from North Korea depicts paratroopers descending on Seoul in an invasion scenario that it said would see thousands of US citizens living in South Korea taken hostage.

/Niceee....so what you are saying is, you have no hope of defeating the USA in a conventional or nuclear war, so all you can do is invade one city and take hostages like common terrorists, and hide behind them like little biatches while chanting your derp about how bad ass you are. Hmmm...sounds like a plan. Bring it. We look forward to kicking your ass and taking over your shiat hole country.

If NK starts a war, I don't quite see China having their back this time. China wil fortify their border with troops to block out refugees, but they don't want in the fight this time.

AirForceVet: Red Dawn 2012 must have really sucked.

Here was my review right after seeing it:

We went to this thinking it would be a great bad movie, and were disappointed. If you ignore the stupid premise, the fact that the bad guys are incompetent, and the fact that the Wolverines can enter and leave the town at will but the other townsfolk don't bother to just escape, this is a pretty decent movie. We were entertained throughout. The dialogue and acting, though they won't win any awards, weren't bad either. We really don't understand all of the negative reviews; it's better than most stupid action movies these days. It doesn't have the corny charm of the first, but it is a better movie.

I don't think they care what the rest of us think.  If Kim Jong Un really does want a war, and videos like this boost morale enough that the North Korean soliders don't cut off their own thumbs in order to dodge military service, then the videos are doing exactly what they're supposed to.

Right, that's my point. There's plenty of reason to show this to their own people, who don't know what's going on in the real world. But what's the point in showing it outside the country?

/I agree, this is pure propaganda to beef up the troops.  He knows that if he invades S. Korea, he would have to roll over the Amercians, and this, he's not even delusional enough to do.  He knows, as does anyone else with half a brain, that the United States and their allies would curb stomp his little country into a smoking pile of rubbish.  It's all bluster and pomp. "Look at how great we are" vids. Saber rattling at its finest.

The NK soldiers will get to the first shopping center, see endless food and videos from Girls Generation and the war will end.

The minute those troops land in Seoul Korea they'll be dumbfounded with all the glitz and glitter of the city they'll just be standing there gawking, slowly rounded up and head them to the closest mall.

Cynic, I absolutely agree. Somewhere in my derp, I forgot that by themselves, NK is pretty weak. I could see China holding them off at their border. Besides, China has a lot of american business and investments within those
borders....

The traditional war in Iraq was over in about two weeks. The insurgency could not be crushed, though... Hearts and minds.

Korea and Vietnam were draws because China and Russia were involved.  It is my understanding that China in particular wants Best Korea to STFU these days.

Also, why would NK want to show Seoul?  It is beautiful compared to Pyongyang or anything that the North has to offer.  I'd think the populace would be like WTF, why isn't our best country like that?

If anyone has Netflix streaming and an interest I would recommend this documentary:

http://dvd.netflix.com/Movie/Crossing-the-Line/70059636

It details the life of an American soldier (and some others) that defected to NK during the Korean War.

I can't think of any rational reason to do so, but I can think of two less-than-rational possibilities:

1. They're trying to project an aura of toughness, kind of like Justin Bieber in his latest thuggish escapades (and they're meeting with about the same level of success).

2. They've started to believe their own propaganda (kind of like CPAC), and they truly believe that they could successfully capture Seoul while dropping a nuke on D.C., or whatever the hell they were pretending to do in those videos.

Apparently, there are a lot of retards that have already forgotten Iraq.

Yogimus:Do you remember the run-up to the Iraq war?  I see a certain pattern in the noise here.

The run-up to the Iraq war was deliberate misinterpretation of intelligence to push the narrative that Iraq had nuclear weapons and scare people into supporting American intervention. This is a half-baked propaganda video released by a North Korean "news" agency that everyone is dismissively laughing at. It's not like anyone here actually believes there's a threat of the North Koreans skydiving into Seoul and taking over South Korea.

Most likely, it would probably be economic suicide for China to side with NK if anything happened. If you look at individual trade nations China's three largest trade partners are USA, South Korea, and Japan. I really doubt they'd jeopardize those relations just to help some tin pot dictator. Plus at this point China may actually want NK out of the way. And overland industrial railway to the Pusan ports would probably be a nice boon to them.
