My racers as always: Smoke, KyBu, Junior, BK

My fantasy racers this week: KyBu, BK, Kenseth, Allmendinger, Stenhouse Jr

Let's do this!

If you haven't seen an Auto Club Speedway race, the racing mimics many of the young Hollywood stars who live nearby - strung out.

Ugh, probably the most boring race of the year, indeed.  I'll still watch, but just sayin'

The most exciting part for me... am I going with grilled oysters or crawfish for the race?

Decisions, decisions...

Choosing the food is going to be much more exciting!

I'm mildly optimistic about this race for three reasons:

1) The big rear spoiler might mean more slingshots, which should improve the racing at California.

2) Gen 6 has shown some ability to race closer to other cars. Probably won't have much effect at California, but you never know.

3) The increasingly rough bumps and seams combined with more camber-greed should lead to some amusing shenanigans.

It's still California, but it has a chance...

Jensaarai: The big rear spoiler might mean more slingshots,

If they couldn't slingshot at Daytona, how do you figure they'll slingshot at Californina?  I mean, a slingshot move requires you to be up to the bumper of the car in front of you.  Other than the first lap of a re-start, Californina generally spreads everyone out... 1-2 seconds behind the car in front.

Let's go, Smoke!

Actually, subby, Logano starts just behind Hamlin.

downstairs: If they couldn't slingshot at Daytona, how do you figure they'll slingshot at Californina?

They didn't have the big rear spoiler at Daytona. I'm not saying they'll be slingshotting every lap, but I could see it making one or two battles a bit interesting, particularly where a guy slides up in front of the other coming out of the corner, allowing the passed car to be close enough to sniff the draft.

Well, I'm not making either.  Sunday is my lazy day... going to buy one or the other from the bar down the street.

With choices like that, I'd go for both.

/haven't eaten today and I'm starving!  Gonna go make a ham n cheese sammich and turn on the big screen for pre-race.

I have to say I like that fox always broadcasts the prayer invocation before the national anthem

Why other sports can't get this right I will never understand

I needed to empty the candy bowl for Easter stuff.

Another 'dramatic' interpretation of the anthem, I see.

I'm guessing other sports don't have the perpetual thought in the back of their heads that someone could get killed on any given day.

For about 40 years now I've wondered why it never gets sung enthusiastically.  Well, maybe not as enthusiastically as Rosanne's version, but still, it's a proud, happy song.  Smile, dammit.
