Spring Breakers was a steaming pile of crap. I could see a 14 year old boy enjoying it for the 200 or so boob shots, but there's nothing else good about it.

Going to see Olympus Has Fallen today, getting good buzz from people who like action movies.

Republican wet dream?  I'm still trying to piece together what that movie is about.

I doubt Morgan Freeman would intentionally let himself star in a Republican wet dream ala "Atlas Shrugged"

It's Die Hard in the White House. It's hardly partisan.

I have no idea what any of these movies are.

Spring Breakers was a fun time kill. There's already still frames of Selena Gomez in her baby blue bikini in just the right lighting where you get a pretty good view of her cunny.

10/10, perfect innie, looks like she had surgery.

The Croods has a long way to go before they make back what they spent in marketing alone.  Not that I think they'll lose money in the end, but damn if that movie wasn't shoved down my throat like a bad Prometheus plot device.

Popcorn Johnny: Spring Breakers was a steaming pile of crap. I could see a 14 year old boy enjoying it for the 200 or so boob shots, but there's nothing else good about it.

In other words, you saw that movie expecting 200 or so boob shots and little else, you poor thing you.  No really; without the right mindset that movie is a serious waste of time.  My wife, however, almost dragged me to that movie expecting epic levels of unintentional comedy and to her credit, it met her predictions perfectly.  While everyone else in the sparsely populated theatre sat agape at the boring disaster they were witnessing, we spent half the movie snickering as quietly as we could manage.  The boobs were OK, but as I told her after the movie, I'd rather watch porn.

I think subby is suggesting the "wet dream" part is that there's a terrorist attack on the U.S. to begin with.  In fairness that does be the sort of thing that gives republicans a chub.

I guess if there's a terrorist attack on US soil during the Obama administration, that would be a conservative wet dream (I realize in the film it's not Obama that's the President but the time frame is now).

I loved Olympus has Fallen. Saw it twice this weekend. Great action flick. It was like Air Force One combined with Die Hard with a bunch of patriotic stuff thrown in. Plus it wasn't all PC like a lot if movies these days. Good times.

Selena is a 10, best thing I can say for her character is she bailed before the movie got extra stupid.

I saw it Friday and thought it was a very good action movie. It also highlights just how not good Die Hard 5 was.

What is a PC action movie nowadays? Cause in Die Hard, the only cop who wasn't a moron was black. The smartest bad guy and the one who might have gotten away was black. I don't think there were any gays in the film. It was pretty PC.

Just got done watching Olympus Has Fallen - didn't eve know it existed until I read the GB AMA on reddit earlier this week - decided why the hell not.

Yes, it's Die Hard in the White House and stuff gets blown up real good. So it was fun.

Nice to see Rhada Mitchell in it - swoon!

GB basically is unstoppable and kills with wanton abandon. No major twists we have not seen before - but lots of fun. Nice to see big action movies being made again. Can't wait to see GI Joe.

That's a disturbing thought, but possibly true. I have to believe there are folks out there who'd get excited over something like this from both sides of the political aisle, depending on who is in power at the time. Wasn't there some movie a few years back that depicted the assasination of the President that people on the Right were thinking was a "Lefty Wet Dream?" Or remember the stories about crowds supposidly cheering the White House gettting leveled in Independence Day? Or how the Battle Of Los Angeles was recieved or reviewed? Unfortunaly, partisanship is so wrapped up in everything, people can't even watch a movie on entertainment value alone, they have to watch for messages and sucker punches.
My wife would say I'm as guilty of that as anyone, by the way.

I still think it's funny that pending on who tells me about zero dark thirty, it is either pro-left or pro-right and usually against the person's party affiliation.

If you didn't go into Spring Breakers expecting it to be complete trash, you deserve to have wasted your money.

If you did, how can you not love James Franco's character?  That was craptacularity on par with Nic Cage in Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call.

Yeah, didn't you see all the right wingers dancing and cheering in the streets on September 11th?  Oh yeah, they were a happy bunch then.  And when the USS Cole was bombed?  You know, back when Bill Clinton was in charge?  Yeah, good times, good times.

Are you for real?  This is why conservatives think liberals are idiots.  If you, Subby, and others like you want to be taken seriously, show a little more common sense and keep your foolish ideas inside your head.

Evidently, there's a show on cable called "just trailers" that as you might expect, just shows movie trailers for a half hour.

If its any indication, 2013 is going to be a shiatty year for sci-fi. Tom Cruise is appearing in a shiatty live-action sequel to WALL-E. (No word if his Scientist/Disco Fever Pal is co-starring),  The chick from Hunger Games (never saw it) is in a shiatty sci-fi movie, but it probably has more Riannna songs in it to sell music videos. The black guy from Jango Unchained is in a shiatty superhero movie, apparently he finally gets to be THE IRON MAN this time.

All in all, pretty sad year for scifi/nerds

Spring Breakers was awesome, especially if you think of it as a dark comedy.  Which is what I'm not quite sure Harmony Korine had in mind, but that's what I approached it as and it delivered.  The theater I was in, an early matinee showing, had only two groups, both of two people: me and my husband, and two women together.  The entire rest of the theater was a bunch of forever alone males.  I'm sure they were disappointed.  My husband and I were the only ones in the theaters laughing.

James Franco deserves at least an Oscar nom for his trolling but it won't happen.

Eh, January-April is almost always a wasteland when it comes to movies. The good stuff won't start coming out until around Memorial Day.

I was bored so I saw Olympus Has Fallen. It was exactly as I expected, so I wasn't disappointed.

Yes.

I plan to withhold judgment until at least August, after all the high-profile summer movies have come out.

I'm especially excited for Pacific Rim. I really hope a lot of people see it, because if they don't it might be a really long time before we get another sci-fi movie that's not an adaptation or part of an existing franchise.

I just got back from Olympus has fallen. some of you are comparing it to Die hard, which there are some similarities, but what it really is, is Under Siege in the white house.

You've got the guy who gets reassigned after a screw up in his job.  He happens to be there when shiat goes down. There is the scene where all the top brass asks if he can be trusted and someone who knows him says he's a good guy.He kills the shiat out of a bunch of people and has a knife fight with Tommy Lee Jones...I mean the bad guy from the first Fast and Furious movie, then he saves the world.

failed helicopter attack, CHECK.
nuke codes, CHECK.
former special forces guy, CHECK.

/no Steven Segal,  thank god
//it was better than Die Hard 5
///I'd watch it again, it's good as far as action movies go.
