Alphakronik: If you are a grown-ass man, and have a penchant for cartoons designed for little girls, time to pull your head out of your ass, move on out of moms basement and grow a pair of testes. No, you're not ironic and endearing. You're an embarrassment to our gender. Grow the fark up and be a man.
fickenchucker: My point has just been proven. Running away from the Brony handle because too many of the fans went full retard is finally recognizing what everyone has been saying. Welcome back to reality.
fickenchucker: And there's nothing Freudian--it's just fun to play on people's fears about what they think others think.
lostcat: What I've learned from this thread:1. The My Little Pony cartoon that was around when I was a kid is now back in production2. Some subset of men have decided that it is cool to declare that they are huge fans of the show
Holy Banana: You know, it's like this. There's a lot of things across history that have been socially unacceptable on a large scale. The only thing the Internet's down is 'rip down' the veil of so-called society to reveal what's really going on behind the scenes. Despite what people would have you believe, fetishes associated with things like this have been going on for as long as Ug and Thung found a rock shaped like a woman's hooha and hid it from the rest of the tribe.
Holy Banana: There is a serious problem with that interest blossoming into a full-blown obsession, where you do nothing but live, eat, drink, sleep that idea. And making real life decisions that demonstrate how obsessed you are to the point where you do stuff that the rest of think is crazy batshiat insane. Marrying a cartoon pony, or attempting to, is crazy batshiat insane, and you -do- need professional help.
Zarquon's Flat Tire: Holy good goddamn.I don't hate on bronies, but you guys can see why shiat like this encourages people to do so right? Don't do this. Just really don't.
Teufelaffe: Every time we get a Pony thread around here, it like the chess club deciding to make fun of the model train club for being "losers" and "nerds."
duffblue: I think most people's problems with fans of this show are not unwarranted. Their fans sound like NAMBLA members when they try to defend it.
KawaiiNot: I don't get why some men love that show. I've watched it and I think it's a boring predictable cartoon.
fickenchucker: Remember "Bronymedic" would always go apeshiat in these threads and defend how cool he was, prattling on about studly guns and his paramedic escapades?Haven't seen him in a while--maybe he finally got a clue and changed his handle.Everyone appreciates the occasional joke in a kid's show, but pretending it's normal to get all wide-eyed and sport chubbies about pastel-colored little-girl ponies is creepy. Definitely the first steps towards cruising the used car ads for low-mileage white panel vans.
Novart: Bronies = child molesters whores and attention whores molesters
ravenlore: OMG, what an awesome and adorable Derpy.
Twilight Farkle: And adulthood. It was the Benny Hill reference (a chase to a tune with a more-than-suspicious resemblance to Yakety Sax) in the third episode that kept me going.
doglover: lewismarktwo: This is the thread to post your moronic pony shiat, so get it out of your system.Just for you.
belhade: I'm proud to say that my son has stopped watching MLP on Netflix (it's been awhile, actually). Now, it's Ruby Gloom. Whatever; he's five.Of course, MLP has some awesome moments, if you're paying attention (which I apparently did far too much).[lh4.googleusercontent.com image 384x230][lh4.googleusercontent.com image 384x230]
kitsuneymg: I think it's due to the somewhat shared persecution complex the fandom has, that we're a bit more tolerant of deviant behavior, as a whole, than say, Alabama. That could also be due to the fact most of the fandom is under 21 and internet savvy. Whatever the cause, it seems a lot of crazies feel like they can glom themselves onto bronies and be accepted. As someone who has spent a lot of time writing and drawing fan stuff for this show, as someone who is probably in "too deep", let me just say, this is farked up and creepy.
Twilight Farkle: MLP is a 2D vectorized cartoon
rappy: Bunch of sick twisted f*cks with serious f*cking personality disorders.
Meethos: LowbrowDeluxe:People posted funny pictures on the internet?[encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com image 240x210]There's an internet subculture that revolves around fetishized representations of children's Owl reaction gifs?
Slaxl: What about all the times someone didn't write a letter defending the honour of their imaginary pony wife? Why doesn't anyone ever talk about those times?
Buttle not Tuttle: From the MTV article:The writer here might be a troll. He might have sent this letter to Kevinsano hoping it would be posted, go viral, and humiliate the entire Bronie movement. It also might be very real. Which is rough. That's the really unique thing about Internet culture: it doesn't necessarily matter whether we are sincere or not for an event like this to become a big deal. Everyone is anonymous, everyone at least feels like there will be no real life blowback for the things they say, what does it matter if you say you are going to marry a cartoon character?
Shadow Blasko: 9 Damned months till we get some new episodes.
WhippingBoy: Bronies Liters are just socially awkward child-men who feel superior to others and band together because the "mundane" aren't smart enough to "get" them.
Alphakronik: I'm worried about biatches watering down the gene pool.
WhippingBoy: Bronies are just socially awkward child-men who feel superior to others and band together because the "mundane" aren't smart enough to "get" them.
Shadow Blasko: Look... It's farking Visual Prozac okay? It's cute, it's pretty, funny... and quite clever in places. It is a simple story with a good heart and it makes me forget about all the damned pessimistic bullshiat going on everywhere around me, while the leaders of my country sit on their asses and say "NO! U!" over and over again.I don't know if I buy into this New Sincerity bullshiat or not, but watching the show makes me smile (smile smile) and it just feels good.If they could bottle it, grow it, or put it in a pill I would take it with me everywhere.
Strolpol: /no, they will never be your waifu, be they anime character, book character, or yes, even cartoon pony character
Counter_Intelligent: When you start to play "mai waifu" with ponies, I think you've gone too far.
