Snake is tired of your shenanigans!

How in the hell is this going to work when the NYC of the 80's is only visible today in the original movies?  What is Snake going to do, get cupcakes and walk on the Highline?  Maybe he could look for the President in the M&M Store in Times Square.

Unless this movie is called Escape from Detroit it needs to shot trying to swim the Hudson.

It's getting another reboot?  That's at least 2 this week!

Escape from LA crapped on the movie's memory enough.

HEY, I loved Big Trouble in Little China...

Escape from LA suffered from the same disease that Highlander II did.

Execs got their hands on it.
Made it from a cool darker gritty movie premise and turned it into a live cartoon.

I thought Escape from LA was alright.  Little more humor and political satire, but that's fine with me.

I agree with almost everything in this statement.  Except for you curious note about a Highlander II.  They never made a sequel to Highlander.

/BTiLC was an awesome movie
// Escape from NY was a good movie
///Escape from LA was terrible even with the cameo from Bruce C.

Same here. Stacy Keach and Dale Robertson (recently RIP) were great in it. Plus it had Pam Badass Grier.

I thought LA was a cheesy, fun action movie. But I've never seen NY, so maybe that's why. I didn't go in expecting anything but a cheesy action movie.

And Valeria Golino, sent to LA for being a Muslim in Alabama.

And Steve Buscemi.. well, that was some of the cheesy part.  That, and surfing the tsunami.

Just farking stop will you?? Good Carpenter movies don't need to be remade or premade as "The Thing" showed us. Just leave it alone and move on.

As I understand it, it was all Carpenter and Kurt. He and Russell even came up with the plot together. They wanted to do something satirical about LA culture.

The original was filmed in East St Louis because even 80s NY wasn't that far gone. What's missing today is that general sense of pessimism audiences had about NY's future survival. Now, most would find it far likelier that America's cities will be turned into Big Brother city-states than devastated urban jungles.

Precisely why a remake is not going to work.  When 'Escape' was released NYC was the worst of Chicago and Detroit - lawlessness, filth, crime and urban decay.  There were a slew of vigilante and dystopian movies that came out around this period - the 'Death Wish' series, The Warriors, RoboCop and a lot more. The Punisher of Marvel comics came out during this era.  These kinds of movies just don't work today.

Yeah, I'd think future New York would be a Demolition Man style dystopia where you are shot on sight for selling too large a drink or putting too much salt it your food, filled with gangs of fixie-riding hipsters who kill one another over their choice of iPhone or Android smartphones, and Mark themselves by what kind of ridiculous facial hair they have.

If this is the price of Hollywood leaving Big Trouble in Little China alone, then it's a price I'll gladly pay.

Escape from LA wasn't that bad of a movie, it was just a sequel to a MUCH better escape from NY which made it look lame by comparrison.

I like a lot of the political satire in Escape from LA.

Well he did get pinched while robbing the Fed Reserve bank in Cleveland, and Cleveland is pretty much Detroit level FAIL these days.

Exactly if you saw Escape from L.A. first you thought it was a good movie, but escape from New York was better when you finally saw it.
