Florida sucks. Period, the end.

2013-03-24 08:06:45 AM
Wait until Earth regurgitates the Sunshine State.

2013-03-24 08:09:00 AM
Will it swallow it or spit it out? Inquiring minds want to know.

Which state is made out of antacid?

And nothing of value was lost that day.

I wasn't aware sinkholes could form inside of much larger sinkholes.

Geographical events are simply emulating the only 'talent' the state's residents possess.

2013-03-24 08:20:36 AM
I'm surprised even the Earth would eat that.

Can it start with St. Lucie county, pretty please? Then Osceola.

/worked for a company that made software for these counties.
/nothing of value will be list, I promise

I'm surprised I'd eat Taco Bell, but every once in a while I wake up in a hangover surrounded by half-eated bean burritos.

/Earth, you're drunk. Go home.

Why was code enforcement called? Are they going to cite the sinkhole for being improperly constructed or un-permitted?

/maybe it was missing hurricane straps

Pretty much this.

I heard from an expert on npr that there are over 600 sinkholes per year in Florida. So this could be a headline almost everyday if we want.

This is just a mile down the road from the sinkhole that killed a guy after it opened up under his house a few weeks ago.

Its just like the shark attack storiies, the mass shooting stories, the accidental electrocution stories, and the robberies at 711.   Happens all the time but the media loves to make a big deal out of it.  24 hour news cycle - they have to fill all that dead air with something.
And it only took two posts to start the Florida bashing.  Another suprise.

Given the population, you'ld think it would spit.

/but it seems more like felching

Clearly the planet needs an enema, and one of these Florida sinkholes is the perfect place to shove the nozzle.

I frigging love my state. Suck it, haters.

/Yes, I know my state is messed up beyond fixing, but still...

But surely Illinois is an otherwise beautiful state and offers a better quality of life than FL in every measurable way.

... except climate ... and pollution ... and gun violence ... unemployment ... *takes deep breath* ... taxes ... college football ... availability of margaritas ... ease of pronunciation ...

This.

I'd assume the risk of sinkholes in that particular area is bigger than the two that we've seen.

The huge one in Louisiana is probably the only potentially explosive sinkhole though.

I wonder how many unseen sinkholes are opening under houses in Florida? You won't know until the concrete slab gives way.

30-foot sinkhole repaired in San Francisco's West Portal

But ours are caused by water main leaks.

Earthquakes tend to treat underground pipes poorly.

Remind me never to live on a sand bar that is only there because of an old limestone reef.

In other news: Victims of sandy hurricane to not get their internet cables back due to living on a sandbar and they can either abandon their shack or buy LTE internet/phone at 10 times the price(bandwidth usage of 100GB a month).

Don't worry - once Earth tastes Florida, she'll spit it right back out.
