(Imgur)   Farker vincent_blackshadow is on the mend. Not only has he charmed nurses into stealing bacon for him, they've also turned a blind eye so he could have his first beer since he was admitted to the ICU on Feb 7th. DIT   (i.imgur.com) divider line 160

whatshisname: All the best.

Newcastle????

Yup, Newcastle.

He's doing it right.

I'll do everyone a favor and not post a photo of me toasting. Get well soon, Vincent!!  Anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger, or eats parts of your flesh and leaves you with stupid medical bills.  Either way all the best to you sir, and may you have a speedy recovery.

*raises glass*

(To all the haters, Newcastle wouldn't be my first choice, but whatever's available immediately in the hospital would be fine.)

I know that I'm just another Internet stranger with well wishes, but I am genuinely happy to see you doing better.

Here's hoping that you'll be released soon so you may begin the process of recovering your humanity, which is the first casualty of an extended hospitalization.

Remember that singular goal.

Cheers.

Pharmacist here. You know, lots of hospital pharmacies keep hard liquor in their narcotics vault (to treat methanol or ethylene glycol toxicity). My hospital has a handle of Jim Beam for such purposes. Play your cards right, you just might get an rx for the same . . .

Mad love and best wishes to our fellow farker. We need another funny picture thread for him. That thing the other day had me, and I imagine a lot of other people (hopefully VBS included) literally LOLing.

Too lazy to make my own witty remark. Build your own:

hooker
transvestite
alley
motel room
'services rendered'
sure, sucking 'blood'
etc. etc.

Just donated, glad to help in a small way.  I just finished reading the original thread and it scares me how many people have to face life-threatening illnesses AND insane medical bills/bankruptcy at the same time.

If you haven't already read this, please do: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,2136864,00.html  It's a long read and it is compelling.  I'm sorry if it came up on a Fark thread already; it almost certainly did.  I don't check in here daily.

Off topic on VB but OT w/MRSA: That picture of VB with his beer seems to have been taken in a multi-patient ward (see the 2nd bed beside him). I thought those things had been done away with, precisely because of MRSA.  Nothing personal to VB, but who wants to be the patient in the bed beside a patient with MRSA?

I have the worst health insurance - it reimburses at Medicare rates - but my local teaching hospital accepts it.  When I was admitted there in December, I stayed in a private room with my own bathroom, because that's the only kind they have.  Was I just lucky?

Great to see that a good man and his Newcastle aren't separated for too long. :) Keep on getting better and better my dear friend and we'll hoist a few soon.

He's probably undergoing dialysis. IIRC he's doing so on a daily basis.

Keep getting better brother!!

Good choice in beer. If it was something I didn't like, I'd demand my ten dollars back just out of principle.

Even so, should he be undergoing dialysis next to another person doing the same thing when he has an infectious disease?  Please don't hate on me for asking this.  I hope VB gets well; obviously, nobody is to blame for contracting MRSA. But once you have contracted it,  shouldn't you be isolated from the rest of the patients to contain the infection?

Please hold the hatred.  I'm asking a question that seems logical to me at 3AM on a Sunday.

Also, very sorry that VB is undergoing dialysis.  That must be one MF of an infection.  MFRSA?

I posted the original thread further back up this thread. The MRSA not only caused him to go into septic shock, but kidney failure too.

However, I'm not getting the "hatred" thing. Is that how you see my reply to you because that wasn't my intent.

2013-03-24 03:47:15 AM
Never exchanged words with you VB, but I've been in hospital with MRSA when the stab wound that had punctured my lung got infected. I lost nearly 20kg bodyweight, and had some pretty spectacular lucid dreaming with the temperatures during the fight.

Glad to see you with that beer, and that smile, soldier. We're keeping your bunk warm back at the barracks here in Farkistan. We just won't tell you how. ;)

Safe journey, and keep those nurses on their toes! I'll keep my bong lit for you.

(oh, and those big lumps in your arms at the i.v. sights die down on their own, it's not to worry about, just your veins hardening)

Aargh, I missed the bit about kidney failure.  That's scary.  Get well, VB.  Best wishes to you and your wife.  What an ordeal.

However, I'm not getting the "hatred" thing. Is that how you see my reply to you because that wasn't my intent.

Don't worry.  It was not directed at you at all.  You're one of the nicest women here.  It was a preemptive move to try to avoid the many farkers who would interpret my post as being smug about my private room in hospital rather than genuinely confused about why VB was in a shared ward when he had MRSA.

Glad you're pulling through man.  If your presence on fark.com is any reflection of your presence in the meat world, you do a lot of good for a lot of people, whether you know it or not.

Keep up the improvements, v_b. I don't drink anymore, so you go ahead and have an extra beer for me.

2013-03-24 06:06:52 AM
I get it! These are "Featured Partner" links, right? Because, really, I've never heard of the guy and I've never seen any Farker get so much "main" time.

Hope V_B gets well soon.

Also hope people stop posting these threads. And "dusty in here" threads, if I may ask for such a thing, because it's not dust, it's wuss.

Sidetrack: Oh man, what put you down? Get better soon

My first ominous thought was of the Vincent Black Shadow, hellishly quick vee-twin, but with puny tiny brakes.

May have contributed to the fatal crash of Lawrence of Arabia, who was reportedly trying to miss some kids on the road.

Motorcycles in those days really did not have strong stopping power. I remember the 1960s, when Ceriani four-leading-shoe drum brakes on racing bikes were so huge the spokes in the front wheel were the length of matchsticks. Still wouldn't lock up the front wheel. Stoppy? Forget it.

/Did I just hijack something?
//It crawled into my hand, honest
///Hey get well quick, VBS.

Be well my brother. I have an  Andygator and a Maudite as soon as you are ready . Also an odd beer from Petaluma.
