I wish Tard's owners would take a DNA sample and start having grumpy clones made. I'd buy one without hesitation.

Well when 99% of humans have a belly that looks that soft then I'll care.

Sorry, but cats simply don't impress me.  They slink around like Norman Bates and kill birds.  Please keep them locked up and away from me.
/Same thing for dogs.
//Tho my son's guinea pig is cool. I may post a picture of shy Brownie, who rarely pokes his nose out of his little plastic home.

Really? You'd prefer a nocturnal rodent that squeaks at all hours and poops all over its home (and the house, and in the vents)?

//as much as I loved it, after it passed I never got another one

I wonder how it feels to graduate with honors from Columbia and then get a job at Time writing about lolcats, even if this is the most relevant story covered by Time in years.

Pet stores now sell odor-absorbing bedding that really works, plus the critter stays caged 23+ hours a day.  At night, we close junior's door so we hear nothing.  The perfect pet.

Yes, heaven forbid she report on a meme, something that is actually a brand new area of study and of great interest to most young academics.

The time for studying memes is now. In the history of language and human culture, things have seldom progressed this quickly. Basically, lolcats are an important cultural meme. As much as you might not want to accept it, that's just the way it is. I know you might feel that, because the person studying it might be studying language, English, or history, that they might not deserve a mention, because their area of expertise isn't something practical like engineering. But they're the same people you wind up quoting to prove your point at some future academic (or even internet) discussion. So stop pitching a biatch.

The burning question on my mind, is how much money is this cat (or its owner) bringing in from this?

Well, she's still working for Red Lobster as a waitress right now, so I guess the answer is "not enough".

Hopefully the girl is smart enough to use her (well, her cat's) 5 minutes of fame wisely, and invest all money earned in a way that will keep giving long after the tabloids have found a new shiny ball of string...

At that point you might as well have a pet rock. Or possibly a cactus. Although rocks are cuddlier. Guinea pigs are sweet, but my betta is more dynamic and interactive than I remember my brother's old guinea pig being. (Then again, that was just one cavy, and he may not have been the healthiest little guy.)

Grumpy Cat has feline dwarfism and according to the last thread she's expected to have medical problems related to the dwarfism. These appearances will enable her owners to give her the best medical care possible.
