Hell yes I'm still watching. And my brackets aren't doing too terrible. Not too good either.

This has been a crazy start to the madness.

Go VCU!

Who in the world picked VCU over Michigan?  Don't you know UM has basically two pro-level guards right now, plus a coach good enough to prep them?  How was that press going to work, when St Louis, a very solid team with a step down in backcourt talent, had utterly no problem with it?

I thought havoc would get in the shooters' heads, and I'm a big ten homer.  But if everything is so clear cut to you, then your bracket must be perfecto

Pretty much the same. Lost 3 from the 16, but my 8 are intact.
We do the stupid seed * round thing, so you crapshoot some low seeds to 16, then try to get the final 4 right.
2nd place out 25 so far ... go Ducks

NC is going to be trouble for Kansas tomorrow, the way both teams played last night. Very, very worried, but at least we avoided the 16 over 1 ignominy.

CBS isn't loading the bracket standings. My bracket isn't as pretty as last year, but I'm tied for second. The brackets around me have major problems in the later rounds. I'm clean though.
Glad our pool toned down the Final Four & NC points. Pissed me off losing to a horrible bracket that got a 64 point national champion game right.

note to greg, it's not about little girls liking huge basketball players, college sports is about old white guys making a shiat ton of money off the talents of young men.

lol, nice jump in logic.  No, I saw VCU get handled by the Billikens in the A-10 tournament and saw a patient team with ball handlers would take them pretty easily.  They were pretty good this year, but not that good.  What was a surprise was how utterly dominant McGary was.  Michigan didn't even need outside shooting.  The talent discrepancy was stark.

NIce to see Smart's team get the shiat kicked out of it after he ran up the score on his "friend" when four of their rotation guys were out or had the flu.

That's what I think as well. It looks as if, of all the one seeds, Kansas has the toughest road to the Sweet Sixteen (and Gonzaga has the easiest).

Personally I'd say Louisville has the hardest.  St Louis is very good.  I almost picked them.  Then they'll face Duke or MSU, both I think deserving 2 seeds.

For Kansas, their road is tough because they're looking fairly weak right now.  And I think Michigan was under seeded at a 4 and may be straightaway better than them.  I'm thinking the Wolverines are the best team in the Aouth right now.

I didn't get to see much of either team this year or scout the game. I guessed on the Big Ten blowing a few games they should win.
UM looks like a team that go deep in that bracket. Definitely looked better than Florida did all year, and Kansas tried to lose to a 16 last night.

I was just talking in terms of getting to the Sweet Sixteen, but, yes, in terms of getting to the Final Four, the committee did Louisville no favors. I think their region is the most difficult overall with the East being fairly close second.

Heh, I hear ya... wish they'd dial back the late round seed things a bit, but some around me I think are goof second brackets going full upset. Or wives.

Let's go back to what I said yesterday in the VCU thread...

The way to beat VCU's defense is to be a low turnover team with guys besides your point guard who can handle the ball some and make the right passes.  Michigan basically plays 4 guards/wings, and McGary is actually a pretty good passer (can't shoot free throws, and can be a total spaz and pick up dumb fouls, but Michigan's break runs best with him in the game as he's great at finding the outlet pass and he runs the floor far better than a guy his size should).  Michigan also had the lowest turnover percentage in D-1 this year.  So unless Michigan plays really out of character or Burke's fall carries over to tomorrow and he's complete garbage, it should be the end of the line for VCU.  VCU's bad luck that they drew one of the worst matchups in the entire tournament for them this early.

2013-03-23 02:47:45 PM
Go VCU!

2013-03-23 02:47:47 PM
Well, the first game wasn't that great....

Let's go Michigan State. As a Badger fan, I love playing them because it's always a good game, and Izzo is a damn good coach. I always root for them in the tourney unless they're playing UW or Marquette.

And I get to be the 32nd post! Oops...or not!

2013-03-23 02:49:02 PM
I don't see Memphis as competitive with MSU, but of course could be wrong.  Not sure why the Tigers got a 6 seed.  They didn't play anyone in conference, lost to Louisville, Minnesota, and Xavier, and barely beat St Mary's by just 2 in the last round, a team that didn't deserve to be in the tournament.

Patient with the press part, I should have said.  Once they were over the line they were looking to attack like crazy, which makes sense, as the defense wasn't set up.

Not sure what you mean, but VCU at least beat a lot of good teams, although I'd suggest VCU was ranked a step or two too high.
