I enjoyed it. Soccer in the snow is unpredictable and fun. And with FIFA considering moving the 2022 Qatar World Cup to winter...do it for Russia 2018! Of course, Germany might have a problem with Russia in winter. :/

France might have similar problems. . .

TheJoe03: iron de havilland: I've never seen a basketball game, but the courts are tiny and the games are pretty short, aren't they? And am I wrong in thinking that substitutions are unlimited? I've just glanced over the rules on wikipedia, so apologies if I'm in error, but a basketball player wanting to play football would surely need to work on stamina training.

You've obviously never played the game either, you need to run up and down the court and have to play both offense and defense.

APPROVES

There is a substantial amount of running and stamina is very important. The court being tiny means there is less standing around because you need to pretty much always be active during the game.

Yes, but there isn't a lot of standing around in football's top class. Wikipedia can educate you on total football, tiki-taka and Brasil's retaining of the original world cup.

Apparently Garrincha lost his virginity to a donkey.

Soccer might take more stamina, but I've played both sports, and I wouldn't say that basketball is too far off when it comes to needing stamina. Basketball is incredibly tiring.

So how long does a basketball game last? Google suggests 48 minutes, less than half the play time of football.

I think the French also will have problems with the Russian winter...especially if the Russians burn the stadium down before the game

Now, the Brits lucked out with the Crimea now with Ukraine

jake3988: Lord Jubjub: The commentator repeatedly stressed that the referee was willing to suspend the game, but the CR players were game to play on.
======================================================

I don't know how games that high up are like... but lower leagues that I ref in... it's the coaches call whether or not to play... but the second the game starts it's up to the ref as to whether to stop or not.

So, there's been times where the fields were just DREADFUL but the coaches insisted on playing... so I blow the whistle to start the game and then immediately blow it again, call an end to the game, walk to my car, and then go home.

/Only once have I been able to get the coaches to call it beforehand... and dear god almighty the fields were awful. And it took about 20 minutes of convincing.

That only left you 6 minutes to get to the gym.

Seriously though, that's awesome to start the game and end it right away.  Soccer trolling?

That was by far the most entertaining soccer game I've watched.  I usually can't take more than a few minutes (unless listening to the Mexican announcers), but was engrossed and watched almost the entire game.

I watched all but the first 15 minutes - you know what you really didnt see much of?  People acting like they took an arrow to the knee after every single contested ball - nobody wanted to lay there and thrash around in the snow.

It was.... refreshing.

You want to call your sport football, then get used to playing in football weather.

Snow soccer should be an Olympic event.
