(Guardian)   Not that any Farker would ever need this advice, but PRO TIP: Don't leave a doberman pinscher guarding an especially valuable teddy bear collection. Bonus: one of the mauled bears was once owned by Elvis, and cost £40,000   (guardian.co.uk) divider line 31

Seriously, out yourself,  Subby.  How the hell did you end up on a seven year old article about a dog, Elvis and teddy bears?  What the hell were your search terms?

This article is now relevant again given the recent dog-shaming phenomenon.

Depends on the Dobie.  If you have one that's trained to be a guard dog properly, I'm sure they make some of the best guard dogs around.  Smart, loyal, big, muscular, scary looking.  If you have one that's a house pet (like mine), you're not gonna have much luck protecting things*.  In fact, a treat and a scratch behind the ears and my Dobie will probably walk you to where the valuables are kept.

*People on the other hand, (in particular friends, family members, small children) he'll protect instinctually.
