Just because they are willing to steal doesn't mean that they could be easily compromised by foreign or terrorist agents and their privileged positions used by said agents to sneak something or someone past security.  No, I'm sure these TSA folks know where to draw the line between just a little illegal and actually wrong.

An honest tourist found a bag sitting in Orlando International Airport and turned it over ....

Sounds like a sting.  And the kid, the tourist, the shop owner, and Steve Jobs were all in on it.  Trying to set up and bring down those good, simple folks of the TSA....

Mambo Bananapatch: Kahabut: ReapTheChaos: crossthread: Mugato: 2 grand for a laptop?

he received an alert on his iPhone

Oh right, it was a Mac.

Surely you're not suggesting it's impossible to spend two grand on a Windows laptop. You couldn't be that ignorant, or incapable of spending ten seconds on Newegg making sure you're not an imbecile.

While there's still a few windows laptops selling in the $2000 range, there getting few and far between and most always in a specialty niche market, not to mention that I doubt many teenagers would own one. My guess would be the same, his parents are apple fans and it was a Mac.

A few?  Niche Market?  OK, yeah, actually that's probably accurate.  The niche being people that want a fully function computer in laptop shape.

However, you need to get your head on straight.  Just because you can buy a 300$ laptop doesn't mean that is the average, or even a good idea.  I realize the vast majority of you people just web browse and watch media on your computers, so you don't actually need one with any power, but some of use work on these things.  Don't worry, no one expects you to know what that is like.

My Windows laptop cost about 2000$ (it was nearly exactly that).  It boots from cold to my desktop in 15 seconds.  It runs every existent piece of software (yep, even that one), and it has features I doubt you've ever even heard of.  It was a business expense, and I got to write it off.

And most importantly, I won't have to buy a new one in 2 years.  Enjoy your toys, mine is a tool.  (as I may be called, when enough people read this)

And with that, Kahabut loaded up Youporn and got to work.

Sadly, I just refreshed Fark.  Which, I'm thinking, makes me more than a little bit hypocrite.

How do you know they aren't college dropouts?

I'm going through airport security, not ordering a coffee :P

One of these days, I am going to get drunk before a flight and stick a Timex up my ass just to see the reaction of TSA agents. When I get interrogated I will just tell them I like to keep my bowel movements regular. Keep the watch guys!

The first piece of budgetary flotsam that should be cut is the TSA. Put every farking one of those bottom feeders out of work, and starve their kids to death so that they become a genetic dead end. In 200 years our descendants will thank us for culling their defective DNA from the pool.

I think the whole point is that you don't have to spend 2 grand to get a first-class computer.  Of course, if your identity is directly based on your OS, perhaps the extra money is well spent.

As a Linux user and therefore superior to both of you, I don't have to worry about that, thank God.

Amen, fellow farker!!!  I am going to Florida in June for my great-great niece's 1st birthday and I have decided to rent a car and drive down rather than fly and lose my credit card or any cash I would like to take with me.  Screw the TSA!  And YES!!! they should be first in line for the budget cuts.

Might fly home tho, after I have spent all my money and burned through my credit card (prepaid)  LOL

I haven't had anything close to a bad experience with the TSA. I think it's because I don't have a sense of entitlement that a lot of flyers seem to have.

And when you get to 21 it will still be more than you've ever flown before.  In other news bigger numbers are bigger.

The point, you missed it.kab: UncleStumpy: I think it's because I don't have a sense of entitlement that a lot of flyers seem to have.

The sense of entitlement to pay money for a ticket and not be hassled throughout the process of getting on the farking airplane?   That one?

Answer the questions honestly and politely and you won't have a problem 99 percent of the time.

and NEVER stare down the supervisor when you are in line... you'll get that 'special' screening...

He had to RESIGN from his job?

Isn't that a bit harsh?

He won't be there come Monday morning for the promotion he would have been due.

Well, that escalated quickly.

Fortunately, what's important here is that you found a way to feel superior to both parties involved.
