Nicely done.

Subby.  Not the catcher.

Ugh. There are some track and field puns up with which I will not put.

Hit on the hip and it killed him?

Subby really raised the bar with that one. It should have the inside track for HOTY and leave all the other competitors in the dust.

CSB:

I was coaching track a few years ago and one of the girls took a throw during practice and one of the guys was paying no attention and took it squarely in the face. I go over to check on him, blood all over the place and he stands up grabs his nose and cracks it back into place then asks if he can keep practicing. I promptly sent him to the hospital.

He must have felt like he got shot, put him right on the ground.

Story is incomplete. Was the thrower throwing outside the throwing area or was the deceased warming up in the the throwing area? Either way, this never should've happened.

I have no puns for javelin so I'll just put this here.

He was hit in the hip. Really sounds like some sort of preexisting condition.

Probably threw a clot.  Kind of interesting/sad that a 15-year-old would throw clots like that...you'd think a thrombosis would be more prevalent in older people with injuries like that.  *shrug*

saw someone get hit square in the back from a hammer once, luckily it was a freshman girl throwing it and the guy who was hit was like 300 lbs.  Keep you goddamn eyes on the circle.  Now they'll shrink the sectors because that's totes the problem

NSCB time....

We had a track & field program at my elementary school, with the shot put as the only thrown activity. You had to be in the Fourth grade to participate. A buddy of mine was the class clown and was goofing off near the bounds line. He got hit in the head with at 15 lbs shot. Blood everywhere. Serious brain damage, Thankfully, he had recovered somewhat by the time he was in his 30's. The kid that put the shot was really messed up about the whole thing; he was an early puberty type, about 5'6" and 175 in the 4th grade and a real 'gentle giant'. He never played in any sport after that.

As there is no F1 Malaysian Grand Prix thread yet, I will ask this here. Anyone noticed that Bob Varsha is filling in for Lee whatsisname? Did Speed let him out of his contract already.

I hope that others too will ask this pressing question in various random places across the intarwebs until you get the answer you need and deserve. Perhaps even a petition on the whitehouse.gov site

As there is no men's recreational intramural basketball thread yet, I'll ask this here: Has anyone see the No. 1 seed in our bracket play? Are they any good or did they just beat awful teams?

/I figure while we're expecting niche threads...

I never saw anything terrible happen during track in highschool. We did, however, practice throwing javelins at rolling tires on the off chance we ended up in some Lord of the Flies type situation.

/Never came to be.
//Actually disappointed.
