Can this be the NCAA Tournament thread?

With all due respect, eating is not a sport. That is, unless you want to consider 260 million or so Americans to be world class athletes.

The way they do it, it certainly requires more endurance and concentration than most sports.

/competitive eating is to eating normally what college basketball is to people throwing a ball at a hoop - yeah, everyone can do it, but not anywhere near that level

Not to mention that the training for hot dogs is completely different than the training for chugging maple syrup, so the have to be jacks of all trades, decathletes of food, if you will.

I once saw the US Open of competitive eating...man, that all comes down to draw. I'd make an effort on some of those, but there was one where it was just eating pure mayonnaise. Winner of that round ate like 2+ lbs of mayo in a few minutes. I'd just say, "nah, I'll take the loss."
