Grant Morrison decided he had enough of their shiat and cast a spell to break them up.

They've been together for TWELVE years??
I thought they were still one of those new emo bands. I'm only 31. I'm frightened by this "time".

They're a little laughably mopey for me, but Black Parade is a wicked awesome song, not kidding.

I love their sweet revenge album.  After that, they went down hill.  Reminds me of Guns and Roses.  The first album kicks ass and the rest are kind of like ummmmm...

so now their fans have even more of a reason to cry.

I thought their last two releases were pretty damn good. But then, I'm 55 and came of age listening to the bands and artists that obviously influenced them.

Saw them at a House of Blues show in Cleveland a couple of years ago. I totally felt like I got my money's worth.

Isn't the head guy married to someone from Mindless Self Indulgence? Another band that's done some good stuff.

I'll sit back now and let all the cool people insult my taste. . . .

Who?

2013-03-23 09:13:15 AM
A friend sent me two of their songs back in 2006 when I had no idea who they were, and I really liked them (House of Wolves, Sharpest Lives). It wasn't until much later I realized they were an 'emo' band. Seeing a picture of the band members was pretty disturbing.

/maybe I should start paying attention to lyrics

I always thought it was a cover of some 80's rock anthem that I had somehow never paid attention to. I was quite surprised to find out it was a 200x song.

I enjoyed their music.  They played with styles a little bit and their albums each had a different sound overall.  Unlike some bands that just do the exact same thing over and over.

I heard if you say that into a mirror in the dark, a sobbing kid with silly hair and makeup will appear and cut himself.

Another band that seemed too big to fail.  Nothing's forever.

2013-03-23 11:52:19 AM
I saw these guys back in 2005 in some tiny venue just before they got really big and the energy at that show was incredible. They're not my favorite band but they sure put on a great show.

'Zackly. I clicked TFA thinking Aerosmith/Rolling Stones/Metallica ad nauseum and I see this nonsense.

Way to troll, subby.

They put out some good songs. I liked their sound, especially their second album

Bands like this made me stop being a big rock fan.

I liked the Black Parade album. I thought all of there other releases were very meh.

Saw them open for I think Thrice and Coheed back in the day.  MCR was abysmal in comparison.  Saw them again opening for ?? a year later.  Still terrible.  Good riddance.

Rob Halford is actually gay but will never be as gay as this band.

Only four albums in twelve years? It took the Beatles only 2 years to release their first 4 albums.

You could technically make a good album out of the best songs on the two  Use Your Illusion albums.  I know that doesn't get much, but it's the truth.

The music channel Palladia shows a lot of hour-long concert shows, and one of them was MCR from Valencia (I think). I was bored, there was nothing else on and...I was surprised at how good they were. Good songs, solid players, good stage show. Something I'd pay money to see? Nah, but I can see the appeal.

And if you play Bohemian Rhapsody right before that, ten-plus minutes of awesomeness occurs.

Right Next Door To Hell, Live And Let Die, Don't Cry, You Ain't The First, Bad Obsession, Back Off biatch, Double Talkin Jive, November Rain, The Garden, Garden of Eden, Don't Damn Me, Bad Apples, Dead Horse, Coma, Civil War, 14 Years, Yesterdays, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Breakdown, Pretty Tied Up, So Fine, Estranged, You Could Be Mine

So, that eliminates 7 songs.  I'd say those are the best.  Still two albums worth, even if you take out Coma.  Add from Chinese Democracy, Street of Dreams, If The World, Scraped, Sorry, This I Love, and Prostitute.  Could've been three Use Your Illusion albums.

My future d-i-l is devastated. Much like I was when Duran Duran broke up.

/I like Black Parade.
