Very nice.  And it'll be easy to chant "F-G-C-U!" at Big East games next year, too.

Is subby the same guy in the NFL threads that says "I haven't seen a Kuhn run like that since..."?

Goddammit. That's half my final four out the window already, after Harvard beat New Mexico yesterday.

GO HURRICANES!

Having actually watched the game, Imwould swear the better team won that game. Georgetown looked pathetic.

...sigh.  Live by the Princeton Offense, die by the Princeton Offense.

In the first weekend.

Every year.

Badger fans everywhere are thanking you poor bastards for stealing tonight's sprots fail headline from our grasp and neatly applying it to your foreheads. Thank you, Georgetown.

GTown looked like they faced a team that has been preparing for them for weeks. Anyone that had GTown going beyond 1-round is an idiot.

Georgetown played with zero urgency, their defense was incredibly soft for a favorite in a huge hole.  No trapping, very little effort to challenge in-bounds, nothing.  They all acted like they knew they were going to lose.

What was the score when Miami played FGCU earlier this season?

I'd imagine the fishermen and oil rig workers were more upset than BP itself

So the only Big East teams left are Marquette (who nearly lost to Davidson anyway), Louisville and Syracuse (Cincy, ND, G'Town, Pitt, and Nova all taking losses... all but Cincy and Nova were higher seeds). Meanwhile, every Big Ten team besides Wisconsin made it out of the first round. So my strategy of "everyone in the Big Ten and Big East are overrated, so pick a bunch of them to bounce out early", is half-right.

This is the last tourney for the Big East too. And it looks like there's a solid shot that they won't have anyone make the Sweet 16 outside of Louisville.

FGCU beat Miami 63-51 in season opener. Just wonder if their Flying Whities were skyying over the Canes like they did vs GTown

Rough year so far.

I picked La Salle, though, so that's nice, and I have Wichita State beating Gonzaga today.  I didn't get any of the other upsets right.

How many years now have they been upset by lower seeds? I think the problem is they are given way too much credit by the powers-that-be setting up the brackets.

One day we are finally going get the elusive 16 over a 1. Though I could have sworn the refs were doing everything in their power to prevent it.

I was actually at the game and saw their warm ups. They felt entitled. Like just showing up would have been enough to win. They played like that too.

Got to hand it to FGCU. They played like a team and were coached well. I wasn't impressed by San Diego so I wouldn't be surprised if FGCU takes them out as well.

What a great win for FGCU.  I think most people here in Fort Myers were just impressed they made the tournament in only their second year of eligibility.  Nobody saw this coming.

I've never seen so many white guys posterize Georgetown with dunks. That last alley oop was spectacular, I thought he flipped the pass over the backboard, but damn if he didn't go up there and get it.

Thing is, they didn't just hang in there against the Hoyas, get a few bounces, and manage to make a couple of big shots at the end. They flat out kicked Georgetown's arse.

That one handed alley oop late in the game got me out of my chair. I thought he'd thrown it too high. Dunk of the tourney.

I think most people's are.  But I'll take great tournament games over a spiffy bracket any day.  If you put money on your bracket it's only a few degrees above playing the lotto anyway.

I thought the put-back slam was better.

They both were fabulous.

The only reason I knew this school existed prior to the tourney is because some kid in my car club went there.

Good for them, now I have a team to pull for other than the Canes.

Thank you Georgetown.
I appreciate your blunt honesty this year. Instead of dragging out your inevitable failure in the tournament, dashing any hopes I may have kept when I picked you to win it all, you spared me the pain and got bounced in the 1st round. Why I pick you every 5-6 years is a mystery but I'm sure my short memory will do it again. If it is not meant to be, please show the same courtesy and get a beat down from Ball State or Miami (OH).

Now I have to face up to the fact that something like 90% of the country is going to be rooting against my Aztecs in the next game, because everyone likes an underdog story.

Should be a really tough match-up for the Aztecs too, especially since Jamaal Franklin hurt his ankle last night, and Xavier Thames took a finger to the eye.  When those two aren't on their game, the Aztecs rarely do well.  If I were a betting man, I'd probably drop a few dollars on this game on behalf of FGCU.

Like i said in the original thread, my friend and I were wayching this and neither of us knew what a fgcu was or where it was for that matter until we googled it. Both of us have lived most of our lives in FL.

Regardless of brackets I'm rooting for UF overall then Carolina. Others would be fgcu and miami. Normally I'm a miami hater but they had a helluva season and being in south florida I'm inundated with um talk so go canes.

I know I missed this whole thread, but oh well:

Georgetown figured out the inbounds thing late in the second half, but it was too late.  FGCU played this exact game against Mercer.  Come out stupidly strong on a run after the half and never let up.  I think it's a shame, because I think Mercer would have had a damned good shot at Georgetown.  The refs even tried to get Georgetown back in it at one point, to no avail.

The only thing I don't like is that Comer is a complete dick and I hope he chokes on his mouthpiece one day.  Brown is a much better player and much more of a sportsman.

Oh, and watch Comer in the next game.  He has this great ability to push his defender into a pick in a way that the Refs can't see it.  Use the pick to visually block the full-on stiff arm.

Mercer beats Tennessee in the NIT, FGCU take down Georgetown.  Go A-Sun.

/maybe one day we'll get big enough to hire decent refs ourselves.

Why did I pick them for the Final Four? Wisconsin is also out, so now it is just Indiana and Louisville for me.

They are like the Philadelphia Eagles of college basketball, look good most of the time but find a way to screw it up every year.
